The british made the first tank and they used it to break up the stalemate of the no man's land of ww1. it traversed trenches and tore thru barbed wire all the wile impervious to machine gun and other small arms wile delivering the neccesary fire power to their troops. After ww1 what little tank research was done by the us was forgotten and we had to play a major game of catch up in ww2 .The german forces of ww2 had Panzer an Tiger Tanks that tore thru all defenders during their Blitzcrieg tactics that Practically Crushed ALL Allied troops till the us got involved... the US had the Sherman Tank that was FAR INFERIOR TO any german tank because it had thinner armor a smaller cannon and was perfectally designed so one shot from a panzer could set off the Shermans rounds and blow up the tank killing everyone inside but we made OVER 50,000 of them so we just beat them down with numbers. Now a days we have multiple tanks UP to the imfamous M1 Abrams 72 ton BIG O'L can of WOOP A SS
the only tank " I " know of that can match it is Great Brittans "Challanger 2" that does the same thing

It use to be that only a tank or a aircraft would take on a tank but with the "Javelin"(i think thats what its called) a mobile infantry anti tank launcher. Those days are near a close

The tank will remain a Usefull tool for many years to come so long as it advances to accomodate other technology's

hope i helped u out

Tanks allowed commanders to plunge through fortified positions and machine gun nest. Then they would push deep into an enemies rear area and force him to withdraw as his supply will be totally disrupted. Before hand the cavalry used to do this job but was totally rendered useless by the machine gun and fast firing artillery. The other plus a tank brought was mobile cover for infantry this forced the army to develop a combined team tactics no longer would the infantry operate on it's own and artillery support only the infantry everybody would work with each other and work to each branches strengths.

They were alot tougher than armed men running on the battle field, and they could destroy towns alot easier than just armed men, some of the American troops captured a king tiger tank and destroyed lots of small German towns , you could destroy or capture more towns with few men.

it created mechanized and mobile landwarfare; Gen. Rommel and the german military perfected it ; lightning fast mobile forces , they called it "blitzgrieg warfare" Our American Military perfected it even more ; we call it "Combined Warfare" no other military in the world can do this as good as we do. meaning combining airpower with mechanized forces and infantry and naval artillery. or any combination there of. this is like dropping bombs extremely close to our own forces to elimate threat to our own Infantry as it's happening. the world is truly afraid of us
