You can get a spade at the hardware store for about $10.

Do call around. There is no need to go to a large expense. This is a basic surgery that most likely the vet techs are also doing a lot of the work. Cheaper is just as good. Do not fall for needing pain meds. The animal needs to feel some pain so it doesn't do something stupid and rip stitches. And even though laser may heal faster it is not necessary. Its better to go the cheap route and get it done verses all the other expense if she doesn't get spayed.

It varies from town to town. If you live in a bigger city versus a smal town the prices can be dramtically different. Also I would check with your vet to see if they participate in Spay day. It is a national day where vets do routine spay and neuters at discounted rates. The clinic I worked at did it every year (in Feb, I think) and last year all we did from 7:00 AM to about 7:00 PM was spay and neuters. I think our clinic did over 75 animals that day (We had two Vets and 6 Techs). And we had great results from it. Spay Day is great for those on a tight budget.

It cost me $40. Actors & Others for Animals paid part of the cost for me and I paid $40 at a vet in Los Angeles. Great vet, not a whole lot of pizazz in office decor, but you can tell he loves animals.
It will depend on the size of your animal as it's the anesthetic that costs -- the bigger the dog, the more anesthetic it will take to knock it out. My dog weighs 15lbs.

Depends on the size of the dog.
In most areas around $100-200 for a spay.
It is a hard surgery than a neuter.
There are places that do them for less money if you are having problems affording the procedure.

Find the nearest humane society in your area. They can provide a listing of locations that will offer the server for little to nothing (some as low as $35). It just depends on the area you live in.

check with your local shelter, they sometimes give out vouchers depending on your income and size of the dog. The voucher varies but you can take it to any vet that participates and they will take care of the spaying of the dog.

Depends on where you live and what your vets charge. I pay $65.00 for neutering and 125.00 for spay. If you got the dog from the pound some vets will do it for free.

That's "spayed." "Spade" is a kind of shovel. It depends on the vet.
