I don't think I've ever had an ideal proposal, until I was proposed to. My and my fiance decided to move into our first apartment together. The first night we actually had everything moved in, there were boxes everywhere, the mattress was on the floor, everything was a total mess. Our landlord must have come over 10 times in an hour, and he kept trying to get rid of him and I didnt know why. Well after a little while of me being totally overwhelmed by all the boxes, he had me come out of the bedroom where i was unpacking and told me to close my eyes. When I opened them, he was down on one knee, holding the open ring box. It was so sweet. He didnt even actually ask me, I got tears in my eyes and put the ring on my finger. When he finally let out the breath he had been holding, I knelt down in front of him, and we just held eachother for a couple minutes. Everything around us seemed to disappear, and for the rest of the night, unpacking didn't seem so bad afterall. It was perfect!

My husband & I were sitting on the bed talking after he got home from work...how our days were etc..After a while, he asked what was for dinner, he asked if I could make a particular thing, & I wasn't sure if he had it, so I went out to the kitchen to check & when I opened up the cupboard, a ring was in there! Not exactly something I would suggest as a way to propose, but it still melted my heart & thought it was "romantic".......After all, we ended up married & have been for almost 5 years!

My husband proposed when we were on holiday in Sicily. The 15th of August is a holy day out there and the night before everyone goes to the beach for a big party. At about 11.50pm my husband asked me to go for a walk..no it's not what you are all thinking. We sat on the rocks by the sea and my husband started saying really lovely things to me. The he got down on one knee and proposed. As soon as i said yes the fireworks went off in the background at 12am to mark the 15th.
It was amazing!!!

This isn't my ideal proposal but I was looking through some books awhile ago and there's this "I Love You Book" (that may or may not be the exact title). Each page has a different way of saying "I love you" or how to show it, etc but on the last page...there's this picture of a ring and you can put your finger through it... It would be so cute if that was a proposal.

Well I have been proposed to 9 times but i am still not currently taken. I want to be at home with my honey and him to ask me on christmas eve just as it gets dark, and once i reply for the first snow fall (real snow fall of the year) to start to fall as we gently kiss and I melt into his essence.

1st Husband took me to a waterfall and read me poetry.
2nd Husband was drunk in the pub and said "When are we getting hitched then?"
My ideal proposal would have to be at Christmas, so I could unwrap my present and find my ring beautifully wrapped hanging on the tree.

He hasn't proposed yet, but I hope he does it soon! I know he already has everything planned out.... I'm just waiting to see when he'll spring the surprise on me. I think I might get something shiny and sparkly for Christmas... =) but I'm trying not to get my hopes up though in case it doesn't happen.

women are sooooooooooo strange
I did, my wife thinks she did. I even had to ask her dads permission and I did. She forgets EVERYTHING, then makes up a version in which she did everything right, everybody else was wrong.
Maybe after a very nice year or decade spent in a toasty cabin with someone, then a proposal.

Just at his apartment one evening when watching a movie. I think it's silly to have an "ideal" or anything planned; it's best when the spirit moves him.
If you are anti-marriage, why are you curious about it?
