Are you sure the dog isn't pulling it out of the litter box. I get dogs that do that all the time.

It is probably the cat. From time to time, cats go through a phase where they stop liking their litter boxes (this usually occurs when another animal or another cat starts using the litter box and wasn't using it before). Maybe the dog used the litter box a few times and now the cat is turned off. Try changing the litter box and the type of cat litter and see if that helps.

Cat poop and dog poop look very different if you put them side by side...but you don't have to do that..it's more than likely your cat.
Sometimes when they have a hard time pooping they get all turned around and end up out of the box.
Try picking it up and putting it in the middle of the litter box so kitty will know that that is where it's supposed to go.

When did you get the dog? Sometimes, cats have a hard time adjusting to someone new in the house and their behavior can change erradically. If you just recently got the dog, I would definitely say its the cat. Also, make sure the litter box is REALLY clean...some cats are very picky and dont like any soil in their box.

I have two dogs and even though they are the same breed, one has bigger poop than the other. Can you tell a difference in the size of the poopies? Maybe that will tell you something. I would also suggest keeping the litter box free of debris so the cat will go in and do his thing!

It's probably the cat. Have you changed litter? The box might be clean enough for your standards, but not to your cats, lol. They can be a little picky.

Are you sure it is not being flung or dragged from the litter box? I would say to watch as much as you can to see which one is giving extra attention to that area and try to catch one of them doing it.
