Most Digital Cameras with Video can be used as webcams. You have to turn the cam on to Video and then leave it plugged in.
Then on your messenger program find this feed line and activate it. It should work.
The downfall is that most will turn off automatically if not recording after a short period of time. You manual will not help you with this issue since it wasn't meant to use as Webcam. Sony will also advise you to buy a webcam.
My recommendation is buy a webcam. Logitec has some really good ones with RightLight Technology.

You probably can. As previously mentioned, check the User Guide or Sony's website. I have some sort of cheap generic, that was given to me, and it came with drivers and a USB cable. It works fine as a webcam.
