They were all His Brothers but not by blood but by faith, just as we are.

The belief that Jesus had brothers is common among English speaking protestants -- but not among Christians in General or Catholics in particular. It comes from two passages in the King James Bible that refer to James and one other as the brothers of Jesus. However, the original Greek word means "close relative" and would apply to cousins as well.

Catholics believe that Jesus was an only child. These beliefs come from scripture. However, most Protestants do not see this, because it is in one of the books of the Bible that Martin Luther edited out of the Bible.

In short -- the protestant belief that Jesus had siblings is due to a translation error.

First of all...way funny about the Jackson 5!!!
Jesus' brothers did not believe he was the Christ until after his Resurrection. Jesus had 4 brothers.
2 later were leaders in the christian church, James and Judas. Judas was a common name, not Judas Iscariot.
YES, contrary to Roman Catholic and orthodox religion Jesus did have brothers and this is fact. They were not cousins or Jesus' step brothers-this is made up.

Matthew 13, "54Coming to his hometown, he began teaching the people in their synagogue, and they were amazed. "Where did this man get this wisdom and these miraculous powers?" they asked. 55"Isn't this the carpenter's son? Isn't his mother's name Mary, and aren't his brothers James, Joseph, Simon and Judas? 56Aren't all his sisters with us? Where then did this man get all these things?"

No, disciple was specifically recognized or spoken to be a son of Mary and Joesph. Most of his brothers and sisters rejected him. However, there was an apostle named James who was a son of Joseph and Mary who wrote the book of James in the last books of the New Testament. James states he is so in the very first chapter. God Bless You.

The Catholic Church denies the truth of God's Word when it says that Jesus didn't have brothers and sisters.

The Greek word literally means "brother and sisters"

These words can also refer to close relatives, but there is no scriptural proof or reason not to take the literal meaning of these words, especially in the context they are used.

Context determines all definitions of word.

bob is a personal name or an up and down movement.

the context of the sentence lets us know which is correct.
