I've been playing the flute for six years now and i don't want to stop, but i have wonky teeth and I'm thinking about getting a brace before i go to Univercity so i have straight teeth when i go there. I've heard that if you get a brace you can't play the flute, is this true?

Yes, you absolutely can. I used to have braces myself.
I strongly recommend you observe your embochure carefully in the mirror and possibly seek help with your private teacher (if you have one). Trust me, embochure errors may be made during adjustment time. Really, I went through it before. I had a crooked embochure with braces and the sound was just so diffused.
However, you are fortunate because you do not have braces on your bottom teath. Play around with your lips a little until you are blowing your airstream properly because with a more puckered lips, you have to blow a little differently to get the airstream in the right position.

Yes..you'll still be able to play. I was a music major in college and had to student teach with kids that were at the age to get braces. They were all able to play about the same in a week or so. It will feel strange at first, but you'll get used to it. Be aware though, it may change the tember(sound) of your playing. You may have to do some adjusting to get the right sound again. It may also effect you ability to tune for a while. If you've been playing for 6 years, you'll get the hang of it quickly!Good luck!

Yes, of course. It'll take a while for you to get used to the feeling of them across your lip, but once thats over with then you'll be fine to play your flute.

I don't know about the metal braces, but I do know many patients who play wind instruments request Invisalign, because they can take them out for concerts, etc.

As long as you can still pucker your lips you shouldn't have too much trouble playing
