If I want to color my hair darker brown with red tones (not extreme- I want natural as possible), is it possible for me to mix a reddish dye with my dark brown dye? Will this give me the results I want?

Never mix two hair dyes...it can cause ur hair serious damage...whatever the degree of color u need you will find it ready in the market...if u need two different colors u apply the first color then after finishing and washing ur hair apply the other color on . To get the mixture as natural as possible go to a professional. The best Idea when dealing with professionals is to search the Internet for a pic with a hair color exactly the same as the one u want and tell them to do the same. If Ur budget is limited and u cant afford to go to a beauty saloon , then ask a friend to help u to apply the red color Coz it is really hard to apply color to ur own hair if u want to apply to only small portions of the hair. Hope u get the color u want :)

Not sure about store bought color, but you can mix two separate professional haircolors together. If you live near a Sally's Beauty Supply store, buy some 20 volume creme developer and a bottle of whatever color brown you like and a bottle of wjatever red you are desiring. If red tones are all you are wanting you can mix all of the contents of both bottles together or you can buy the brown haircolor of your choice and instead of buying a separate ahircolor you can purchase a small tube of red enhancer, so all you would have to do is squirt the tube of red enhancer into your brown haircolor, mix and apply. If you get a professional color then you should always look at how many ounces is on the bottle (usually 2 oz.) and mix it with equal parts of the developer. Hope this helps a little, but YES you can mix two colors together to get the desired result. I do it all the time in the salon.

Mixing hair dyes should be left to professionals. If you are buying haircolor from the store there are a lot of different ingredients that don't mix well. Yes it is possible to mix haircolors but they should be professional colors by the same brand. (example Redken 8RG and Redken 8GB can be mixed safely because they are the same brand). If you want to have a hair color made specific to what you desire a cosmetologist can help you. I went to beauty school and I know for a fact that if you are on a budget beauty schools do proceedures for cheaply and it really helps the students when you go. Teachers are always watching and they teachers have to sign off on everything they do. So if your strapped for cash go to the local beauty school, they will be able to mix colors for you there and will charge a lot less then a salon.

Only the one's which are intended to mix with different shades, not those you buy at your drugstore or whatever.

I would suggest to you a dark mahogny brown! I've had that shade myself and it looks great. It's brown with a subtle hint of kind of a golden red. If you want more red, go for a auburn brown, the shade of red is a little more purple-red.

No it won;t. You need to put on the darker brown dye. Wait and then use the reddish dye to give yourself highlights.

My suggestion is to contact the manufacturer of the dyes. I combine the colors I want for my hair but they are all of the same manufacturer and I called thier 'color line' just to be sure. maybe a professional will anser on here :)
