Probably not since people leave in the middle of the rehab treatment. These centers should be like a prison. They should be locked in a room and monitored until they are dried out and educated on their desease(sp) and what they need to do to prevent falling off the wagon and returning to the things that made them addicts. They don't deserve your pity or helping hand. They need to be treated hard and with persuasion that this is it. It's their last hope to have a decent life. Your pity is part of what helps them stay an addict. A piece is also the problem are parents, relatives and other family members taking the pity trail when it comes to someone having an addiction. An addiction that can put the family in some type of jeopardy as these addicts become disperate for money to satisfy their need. They will steal or trade your safety for that next fix. I am amazed that your more worried about a 20 year old addict celebrating his birthday in a rehab center rather than getting straightened out. What the heck does he have to celebrate right now? Celebrate his birthday when he comes home clean, sober and drug free with a rare opportunity to start his life over. A chance to become a loving member of the family rather than a casualty of life. Grow up and get some tough love. His life depends on it.
