Because those god people ain't Jehovah people. Those that worship the one, true and living creator whose name the bible tells us is Jehovah, do not all have sex on their minds except they are planning on getting hitched and having some little brats making some wonderful rukus.

Repression isn't natural to the human animal. Of course, some of them insist that we're not animals, which can't help. Have you ever seen some of the fundie magazines? I'm a decade or more out-of-date, but the ones my friends got had back then all had columns in the back with letters expressing shock and dismay about other people's 'scandalous' sexual activities, full details included. It is a major issue for some.

It's a religious way of getting titillation while still getting to feel superior to the rest of us.

And there is nothing wrong with that, as long as one's sexual desires are for one's spouse.

I know of one particular, or should I say "alleged" god "person" by the name of Fred Phelps who preaches at the Westboro baptist church in Topeka, Kansas. He is SO obsessed with preaching against homosexuality that it makes you wonder.... His obsession with gay sex aside, he's a horrible individual.

I think it is partly to do with power. If you can say who can have sex with whom and when they can, you pretty much have control over their lives. Add in lack of contraception and involve the results in your religion of choice as early as possible so their obedience is unthinking, and you increase your power base.
I expect this is why they all come down so hard on the gay community - not much chance of increasing the number of bums on seats there once you have them in the fold.
