Being lonely is something we all experience at some point. It's impt. that you focus on yourself and you'll meet the right person in due time. The more work you do on yourself the better you'll be able to be a partner with someone else. So read, surf the net, pick something interesting to pursue in the meantime and just wait it out. I have a feeling that you'll be just fine. Maybe solitude is what you need now in order to heal and get your priorities in order. And...you are not an idiot. You come across as a caring and sensitive guy. Too bad I don't personally know more guys like you. Good Luck

I was chronically single until I decided to join eHarmony. I met the man of my dreams in like a month. Not bad! Although I was single, I didn't really feel lonely-I always liked my life, which makes being a pert of a couple sometimes scary! You found out about yourself you want more than solitude-a good thing to know! You don't have to be the life of the party-I never know what to say to strangers. I've never met a single person in my life who wasn't introduced to me by someone else. You know what you want-now go get it! Good luck, Dave!

It's normal to feel unadjusted coming out of a long period of time where you always had somebody to share your life with. Moving to a new place also makes you feel less at ease. This 'loneliness' is just deriving from that, and distracting you from yourself. It's not really about women, it's about you. Do all the things that makes you excited, focus on making yourself (as an individual) happy. Go take up jogging, do some meditation, have a fun night out with your friends... forget about women in general. Just make that decision of being happy with yourself.
It's often when you aren't in want of something, that that something comes to you. (ie. Don't try to find another girlfriend, when the time is right, you'll just meet the right person.)
Good luck, I really hope you feel better, but remember that only you yourself, has the power to.
:)

Take your time. 8 years in a relationship takes time to recover. Just keep busy enjoy the things you like most about life. Even if you have to do them by yourself. Right now don't worry about women they aren't going anywhere. You need to feel good about yourself and sort things out before you get involved again. You won't change over night this is a process. Then when you start feeling better things will change for the best. Right now you need to think of yourself first then go from there. Good luck and happy holidays.

Don't put so much pressure on yourself. You need some time to get over her first before you get back into it. Breakups are like a spiritual rebirth if you let them be. Take this time alone to find out what you want, the kind of person you like and most importantly, figure out what is going to make you happy. None of this will come over night but if you just give it time and work on it, the answers will come and all the misery will be well worth it.
