If youre to find your soulmate it can happen over the Internet, at the supermarket, driving your car, at school...

Maybe, but you cant always "judge a book by its cover". Sometimes the person might sound nice and look nice or act polite but you have to take the fact in that its over the internet.

What you might think is a 25 year old man might be a 45 year old putting up pictures of his son or something :p So you never know.

But it is possible to find your soul mate over the internet.

I'm sure it is, on eHarmony or something like that. But just surfing the net talking to people seems a little... weird. Who knows what you can find! Pictures can be faked, personal details, also. It's just plain creepy if you ask me.

Then you have the people who will ask you if you're seeing anybody and it's like... what do you tell them?

If you do look on the internet for your mate, stay in your own town, or just outside of it! That way you don't have the distance problem, and they'll be less inclined to lie to you. You can date in real life, because that's something you can't do over IM/Email.
AND neither person has to leave their family and friends behind.

Sure is possible! I did. I see it as being no different than meeting in a bar, market or through friends. The internet only provides the means of communicaiton and getting to know the person. Same thing back when PEN PALS were the HOT form of communication, and then came the party lines. Even when I meet someone outside of the internet, I ask for their email address!

yes i think it is possible :) the world is a big place and the internet has helped so much in making people touch one another's lives even if these people are all living in different parts of the world :) i met my current bf online in March 2005. We started out as chatmates and im in Manila and he's in Australia, and it wasn't an immediate attraction on my part, although the reason he first contacted me was coz he liked my yahoo profile picture. Then after only about one month, i found myself looking forward to talking to him more often :) Then around August 2005 i did my paperwork and got myself an Australian Visa and paid him a visit, but it still was very casual, but i knew i was on the right track because how i perceived him over the internet was EXACTLY how he was in person. But i do think u have to be careful when meeting in person the people u initially met online. Coz the world is also full of perverts and criminals who would do anything to find victims and would play convincing roles to get what they want. In my case, i kept myself safe by making sure to meet at daytime in a busy area, and i am lucky enough too coz a friend of mine that i grew up with migrated to Australia in 2004 and she accompanied me when i first met my current bf in person :) and made sure i kept in contact with her during the subsequent dates i went on with my bf :) and a lot of the comfort level i got was also due to the fact that i had chatted to my bf for months almost every single day and i never caught him telling inconsistent details or unlikely stories. if you're seriously looking for a relationship online and maybe proceed to meet that person later, i suggest you to take my experience and find some things in it that will be useful to u :) i encourage you to take that step if you feel you want to take that direction, coz for me it's been a very rewarding experience, and i'm glad that i took the chance on my bf and made the big step of visiting him coz it really paid off :) Now i travel back and forth, and he might also book a trip to Manila soon, so i have to tell you that money is indeed important in sustaining long-distance relationships so if you can't spare extra cash to do a lot of travelling, then maybe long-distance relationship is not the thing for you :) you can still find someone over the internet who may be living closer to you but it all depends on the attraction level and if you can end up really loving each other :) that's the main thing :) good luck :)

I believe it is. The Internet is just another portal to the world we live in. It doesn't matter where or how you meet people, it only matters that you do. As to security please be careful. The Internet is a big place with bad people in it. It's what I would imagine it would be like to be blind and be on the streets in New York. There are so many nice people but one can screw up everything. It can be refreshing to identify with a person's mind and soul before you even gaze into their eyes.

Yes. I have! I met my guy through eHarmony--we actually went to high school together, lived less that a mile apart for over 20 years, and he drove past my house every day on his way to work and we didn't know each other. Without the internet, we would not have met, and all I can say is he is the greatest thing that ever happened to me.

Yeah you can, I found mine on the internet and now we are living together. Sometimes you just find love in the most unlikely of places so just keeping looking and you will find.
