Actually, a woman can be an imam ('prayer leader') of a women's congregation. Because Muslims prostrate before God, the physical position of bowing should not be done by a woman in front of a man. Men are highly visually distractable as we know.

The standard answer is that "The Lord Jesus chose men to form the college of the twelve apostles...". This is not really a very good reason because Jesus also didnt choose any Chinese people (for example) but there is no prohibition on them. The simple and obvious truth is that at the time women were not accepted into leadership roles by society, so Jesus couldn't appoint them as priests because nobody would accept them. I don't think anyone seriously believes that if Jesus were alive today he would not appoint women as apostles or priests. This silly and ignorant stance will pass in time as have the Churches other ignorant positions. "The world is flat", "The Sun orbits the Earth", "Evolution is false",etc, etc, etc.

I'd just like to have the remote control without a fight. But if I were to aspire to preach or teach or minister I think I would feel more comfortable with organizations that have less scandal attached. I'm not saying Catholics are bad but the way the Pope has complete control it just invites corruption. Power corrupts people. Not all but I'm betting it does most people. They cover up things and always have. Their leadership structure is flawed. Anyway again I know many fine noble born again Catholics and I am positive the majority of leadership is good but look at Martin Luther and inquisition and Crusades and beheading of wives appeasing the church. I believe they would benefit from restructuring and by receiving more feminine council and leadership.

In Catholic theology, the Priest stands at the altar as an "alter Christus" (another Christ) - and the Sacrifice of the Altar (Mass) is the un-bloody Sacrifice of Christ (Whom the Priest is standing in the place of) between Jesus and His Church - the Bride of Christ.

Christ, a male, born of a woman (a very Special Woman, indeed) - God of God, yet born in the natural way, so that both men and women can enjoy the benefits of the Salvific Acts of Christ on the Cross.

Men cannot bear children, or be "Theotokos" - God bearers....

Women cannot be priests.

That's the nature of things as God created them. Men are not better...they just have a different role in the process of life.

It goes against the entire nature of the Sacrament of Holy Communion and what we believe is happening (anamnesis) on the Altar.

Honey don't you worry about this. Really woman do not make great pedfiles. And those dresses the priestware well they do not fladder young woman. A woman has to much since to want to be dope like the pope.
These are offices of the anti-christ why would you want to be involved with them anyway. Ever seen a ariel view of the vatican it is shaped like a mans male parts. The whole catholic church is pagan and has nothing to due with any truth. It is the great whore of revlations. Why even bring them into your world.

No good reason at all. In the Episcopal church, women serve as priests.

And while the Evangelical types love to wrap themselves up in Paul's admonition to not women teach, they conveniently forget the passage from Romans where Paul appointed Phoebe deacon to the church of Rome. He wrote very directly that they were to obey her as she went about her vital mission of raising money for the Jerusalem church. In the same passage, Paul also praised several other church leaders, some of whom were women, for their outstanding leadership.

It was only later that the church became patriarchal. I'm amazed at how many people on this board haven't bothered to read their New Testament.

~~~ goosh .... Quite simply, the male of the species is Dominant,,, therefore it is He who dictates Policy within The Group. Then you inject the factor of The Individual's Psychology to effect judgement on His decision making,,, also keep aware that Power can corrupt,,,, and NO MAN is willing to surrender his power to a lowly woman. This is THEIR perspective, not mine. Remember that in this Greatest of ALL Countries, that women were not allowed to vote for their leadership until the 1920's, some 150 years after The Constitution and Bill of Rights 'formed' the country's birth.
Because people are sexist subtly. People in organized religion still think that men are the higher, more powerful sex. If you know about this, then GO be a priestess and TELL them what women are capable of!
The Catechism of the Catholic Church states:
The Lord Jesus chose men to form the college of the twelve apostles, and the apostles did the same when they chose collaborators to succeed them in their ministry.
The Church recognizes herself to be bound by this choice made by the Lord himself. For this reason the ordination of women is not possible.
With love in Christ.
there is no precedent for this in the Catholic church as Jesus did not appoint Women or choose them to be Apostles, and not even His Mother ministered the first sacraments but served as Jesus served in humility.
