Atheists can only think and claim which makes sense in their limited mind, unlike the others who can not only think but can also feel the presence of GOD within them!

~~~ locksmith ,,,I am an atheist and have never heard this claim by anyone,,,, and your 3 examples do not Define a Theocracy, neither alone or in sum. America is 90% christian and if it wasn't for The Protection of Checks and Balances that the Founding Fathers created within The Constitution and Bill of Rights then we would surely be living in a Christian Theocracy today(for instance note the Temperance movement which rallied enough power to Amend the Constitution to Prohibit Alcohol for it's citizens,,, which of course had to be repealed later to avoid a Revolution.), ,,,and especially with American Christian Politicians and Clergyman promoting an erroneous Revisionist History that the USA was founded on Christian Principles. This is an outright Lie and is documented in the Founding Fathers writings of their day,,,whether they were mentioned in pamphlets or in personal letters, as an example Thomas Jefferson or John Adams, etc, that they merely had similarities w/christianity and made specific declarations that would NOT include ANY Christian References. The Iriquois League of Nations, Freemasonry and The French Revolutionary Concepts were the greatest influences on our country's formation. Christianity's role was extremely minor, regardless of the fact that many were christian. Remember that people came here specifially to Worship Freely, ANYTHING that they wanted to believe,,, NOT to form a Christian Nation.,,,
When the religious get their religion turned into law. That's what happens. It doesn't happen all at once and it isn't about being forced at gun point to attend church.
It's about Intelligent Design getting taught in the schools. Its about the banning of gay marriage based only on religion. Its about the banning of abortion based only on religion.
That's what its about.
These things happen slowly over time.
You see V for Vendetta? Go watch it sometime. That's where the US is heading right now.
And why in the all bloody hell do Christians always take things to such extremes? Did you just sit there and think about the worst possible things you could think up? Its NOT about the big things. The big things don't happen right away. It's the slow removal of liberties a bit at a time. It's about precedence (which is what US law is based on). THAT is what its about.
Heck, my father in law is a minister and even he finds it disturbing the trend its taking. Its like the country has lost the idea of what "freedom" really means.
Is that your idea of a theocracy? You would be forced at gunpoint to attend church? If thats the case then I certainly hope America never ever becomes one.
Those're some pretty extremist points you've got there.
The fact is, forcing one religion's morality to become law--despite the fact that that morality doesn't really have any legal justification, such as the potential ban on gay marriage--IS establishing a kind of theocratic government. Forcing citizens to acknowledge an unproven deity--such as the phrase on our money--IS establishing a kind of theocratic government.
Notice most of us don't say that the U.S. is a theocracy, but that it is on the downward slide toward becoming so. The fact that the government hasn't resorted to killing people because of their non-Christian status just means we aren't all the way there yet.
When was the last time that a board of education declared that schools could not teach evolution and had to teach creationism? Oh yeah -- just this past year.
When was the last time that a president declared that federal funds could not be used for stem cell research because of his religious beliefs? Oh yeah -- just this past year.
When was the last time that a governor and president exceeded their authority to keep a dead woman on life support because of their religious beliefs? Oh yeah -- just this past year.
There are different levels of theocracy -- and some lines have been crossed.
When Bush said the he talked to God about invading Iraq... thats when it becomes a theocracy. When politician's start writing legislature based on what God tells them, thats when a theocracy begins to form.
So, I guess maybe we should wait until we are forced at gunpoint to attend church BEFORE we complain about it????
Dude - GAY MARRAIGE. You people are forcing your beliefs into the secualr laws of this country. We are well on our way to becoming a theocracy. And if you dont see that, its because you are blinded by your faith.
It doesn't happen all at once. It happens slowly over the course of time. With the religious trying to pass laws that affect how we live our lives, therby forcing us to live to their moral standards we are sliding towards it. Not to mention that in some churches George Bush's image is prayed to.
It is as much theocracy to turn a religion's morals into a law as to turn the religion itself into law.
And yes, in Washington DC, and many states, there is a law on the books prohibiting sex adulterously.
