One day, on the way back from a show, I stopped at a flea market with my intact mature male basset hound and a friend's adult male miniature dachshund.
I overheard a lady say: Oh look, there's a mother dog and her puppy!

When people offer this advice to questions about dogs, "Watch the Dog Whisperer". The program does not teach the viewer how to address and correct their dog's behavioral problems; all the advice on the show is specific to the animal in front of the camera. Heck, there's even a disclaimer at the beginning of the show advising viewers not to try this at home!
I watch 'Emergency Room Vets' and I'm not qualified to offer medical advice to any animal.
I watch 'Animal Precinct' and I'm not an authority on local animal abuse laws.
I could go on with this, but I think you get the point.

'I like your Dachshund/Lab' (she was a Black and Tan Coonhound)
'My son/daughter just loves dogs!' (they won't when they run up and pet the wrong one without asking)
'Is that a Mastiff?' (directed at my Bloodhound)
'Does she have Bassett in her?' (no more than you, idiot)
'I'm sorry, I don't allow dangerous dogs without a $500 deposit' (a prospective landlady when I told her I had a Bloodhound. She is a 'blooded hound', ie a dog of pure lineage, not a bloodthirsty hound.)
'Why don't you let her off to go and play, i'm sure she'll come back. It's cruel to keep her leashed' (no crueller than letting her run loose and get hit by a car. How about I set her loose, and you run 4 miles to get her back?)
'That dog has huge ****' (So would you if you'd been pregnant 6 times over before animal control confiscated you)

"Pit Bulls are terrible and should be outlawed."
This is totally ridiculous and outrageous! Blame the people, NOT the breed!!
APBT's can be loving wonderful dogs if they are taken care of properly. This means, getting spayed or neutered, getting proper obedience training, being socialized early on, among others.
The few bad apples out there who use their dogs as fighting dogs or those who just leave them out in the backyard tied to a tree are the ones who give Pitties a bad names.
ANY dog can be aggressive. Golden Retrievers can be killers if they are allowed to be.
ALL dogs need proper early training and socialization.
NO DOG OR DOG BREED IS A LOST CAUSE!!!!!!
I cannot stand BSL and those who continue to let it take force.
I suggest anyone who lives in a region with BSL should take on the law with Civil Disobedience. Fight the law to keep your dog.
We have to punish the ignorant who give our dogs bad names.
And we have to fight these stupid laws which are un-American in the context that they discriminate against a certain dog breed.
Now, I understand that dogs are not humans, but there is still a certain complex there.
Thanks.
To Yo Lo!-
Actually, all dogs are born with tails. It is natural and the best thing for them. No dog tail should be removed. Aussies are born with tails, but they are commonly docked at 3 days old because the Aussie AKC standard states that the dog should have a docked-tail. Yet, for just pets or agility dogs, they have no need to have their tails docked! It should not be done. Unless your dog is busy in the field or herding sheep all day, there is no reason to dock any dog's tail.
I hate docking, cropping, and other mutilations!!

well, J8sonY, personally, me & my fiance like 'doggy style' and its obvious why its called that.. anyway.. lol
The dumbest thing i can remember right off the top of my head... is... When I was in the 6th grade, my neighbor had a Wolf/Lab.. I know.. its a weird, hard to believe combo but anyway, Its name was Wolfie. One day their little girl (6yrs old) was running to the bus. The dog was playing, chasing after her. He got infront of her and she tripped over him. Everyone was saying he was a vicious dog because of that... He did'nt bite anyone, he was just playing!!!

All PIT BULLS are Dangerous........
First of all "pit bull" isn't a breed it is a generic term used to categorize several different breeds.
American Staffordshire Terrier
American Pit Bull Terrier
Staffordshire Bull Terrier
Bull Terrier
Miniature Bull Terrier
and pretty much any dog fitting the description of blocky, short haired, muscular with defined features......ummmm....okay....so that would inclue Rottwielers, labradors, Ridgebacks, mastiffs, etc.....(This is the description used by Denver Animal Control to determine if a dog is a "pit bull" and should therefore be euthanized. When I was there, I saw hundreds of dogs that were not pit bull mixes put to sleep because of one thing, LOOKS!)
People are ignorant and push off morals on dogs who know of none, they are behavioral, and ALL attacks have a trigger or natural behavioral explanation.....dont believe me.....Read the book, Fatal Dog Attacks, its the only study done into fatal dog attacks where the story behind the attack is told in all fatalities from 1962-2002.....ALL of them had natural triggers and warning signs....so sad that humans are too stupid to realize natural behaviors and just pawn it off to a "bad egg." We can be such a pathetic species.

When I suggested obedience classes and socialization for a big black shepherd puppy that lived in a family with young kids-- the dog was becoming timid and nippy. The owner told me she didn't need to do any of that, she was "teaching him to be a good listener..." They later gave him to the pound because he started biting in earnest.

I think my dog got the cat pregnant...My dog just had six puppies but she has never been out or around a male....And I'm 100% sure...
And just today....A six week old Pitt chewed a baby's toes off while it slept between it's parents and no one heard the kid cry.

This is more funny and cute, than ridiculous. I have a chihuahua and we were at an outdoor cafe, and he was sitting in my lap. A little boy was walking by with his mother when he looked at us and said, "Mummy look...a kangaroo!!" I laughed my butt off, but I could see why he thought that. :)
