The thing about online chatting and messaging is it's not real time. You're not on the spot, coming up with instant answers and conversation, It's all thought out and edited, and it sounds good because you can think more about what you want to say. It's almost like when you see a McDonald's commercial and you say damn that's a good looking burger, then you get to the restaurant and you get it and the buns smashed and the burger's greasy and it doesn't look at all like it did in the commercial.

Definitely. It is plausible; though I think due to the quasi-impersonal nature of communication over the internet it may be harder to do.

I do not believe it is out of the question to chat/email/share-pictures with someone you fnid attractive and intriguing. In that sense, love can certainly develop.

What you end up with, however, is most-likely a distant relationship. So between the impersonable nature of the internet and the hardship of a distant relationship; you have a lot working against you.

It does not mean you cannot make it work, it just may be harder.

I think people think they can fall in love in an on-line relationship, but I feel it is impossible. Attraction is possible, but the attraction is to an idea or a thought, not to the actual person who is much more than some words. I think the feeling that happens is more imaginary than real because e-mail/writing is not a good communicator to begin with. It could not happen to me because I am aware of the difference between words/thoughts and actual people. On-line, you can't see people's actions. You can't see their body language. There is nothing in front of you to double check for accuracy or honesty or even if they are the person they say they are. There is also something very real about chemistry between two people, and on-line, since you aren't even near them, you can't even feel what their chemistry is like. So, in conclusion, I think on-line love is more about wanting to be in love and people's imaginations making cyber-things into more than what they really are: words.

Of course and that is how you become so attracted to this other person. One thing is that you need to have a relationship that you can have nice long converstaions with. Hey you aren't picky about looks and you two get in the groove of good conversation go for it. It won't hurt to try. Just don't be easy if you know what i mean...; )

Yes I do. You know there are many people who has found true love online. Anything is possible. I would still get to know him better and chose. Make the decision for yourself and don't worry about what others may think or say. After all you will have to live with your decision. And who knows life is full of chances. I say go for it girl andmake sure you will be happy with your choice. Goood Luck Kina

NO! You can think that the people talk nice online, but imagine that it could be some old creepy man that rapes littles girls or a woman who says she look like Beyonce and really looks like a monster from somebody's scary movie. I know I couldn't fall in love online, because I keep that thought in my head while chating online

I think you have to be pretty conflicted to think yourself attracted to words on a screen. People have to meet in person before they can fall in love. On line relationships fail because so many people are fake or better versed on line than they are in person. By all means, be friendly and chat on line, but also be smart enough not to take any of it too seriously. Best Wishes to You.

I think you can fall in love with the idea of someone online. You will only know for sure when you meet face to face and go through the day to day stuff with someone.

Not only can it happen, but it has happened to me. I met a woman on Yahoo Messenger, and we fell in love. However, I did go over to the Philippines and met her and her family in person, and it turns out that she is just as nice in person as she was online. Yes, you can fall in love on line, but you really have to meet the person to find out if the person they present on the computer is who they really are.

I met a guy once in a chat room (OMG I can't believe I am saying this) from Australia.

He was charming, witty, funny, an awesome writer and a good friend for many years. I cared for him very much (OMG again, this question made me Google his name and just found him......just like that still living in Australia). He was studying to be a barrister and I see that he finally is. Even has a picture. We never exchanged them. Wow!!

I'm floored. Thanks for this question. You just rekindled an old friend that I missed. :)
