If a guy is not so sure about a girl, would he ever throw a hint about liking her, or wanting to go out with her instead of just flat out saying so?

I had a female friend who claimed that men are NOT big on hinting. She said most men come right out with it.
Is she wrong??

Absolutely ...

If he asks anything about your interests (i.e. movies you like, favorite artists, etc) he is trying to dig and see if 1) you have any common interests and 2) if so what would be your ideal date. If you think a guy is dropping hints; he is.
Sometimes a guy appreciates a Woman being assertive. If you like the guy it's 2006 tell HIM! He'll appreciate your forwardness and if not ...well then I guess he's not "the one"

By the way ..do you ever use Instant Messenger? See that was a hint = )

Pay attention to things like that!

No men don't throw hints, they'll come right out and tell you what they want or don't want and it means exactly that, not like women where we say one thing but sometimes we really mean something else. Also though, if a guy's not sure how a female will take what they say, then they won't say anything and then you get into the whole lack of communication thing. Men are very easy to understand if you don't try to use women's logic to figure them, keep it simple and basic when you're dealing with them, oitherwise its in one ear out the other.
Only women mostly throw hints and half the time they don't really mean what they say anyway, its just a guideline for men for something they really want, and the women non-verbally reserve the right to be pissed off if they don't get what they really want.

Even with the monkey throwing poo, some men don't get the hint, lol!

Sure... Have you ever wanted something and your mom or dad tell you flat out....NO? It hurts, that is how it feels to guys when they like someone and ask them out and are told no, it hurts and is embarrassing because most women will tell their friends about it, making him look like an idiot. Some hints could be talking, smiling depending on age just acting goofy. If you would go out with him.... why not start a conversation and if need be, ask him out. This is not the 1700's anymore.

it really depends on the guy some will just come out an say it an others will throw hints, it just depends on how shy he is or isnt.

Y'know, some might, and those are either the shy ones or the slick ones...the ones with zero tact will barrel up and ask straight out. i'm not knocking that...it takes more courage than most guys have.

YES, however it's not very mature... and can lead to mixed signals on both parts.
- The hints would be about dating, sex, and general comments putting himself in whtever picture... e.g. "yea, but you'd never date a guy like me - would you?" etc.
Not very clear signals...

Good for you. It sounds like you're starting to figure out how guys think. Most guys are not brave enough to come right out and say what's on their mind. So, they test the waters to get your reaction before they risk embarrasment. good Luck
