Naps really depend on the child and the parent. My 3 children were in daycare and of course they had to take naps. I wasn't the biggest fan of the naps because they let them sleep too long and then my children didn't want to go to bed at night. I have an almost 3 year old stepdaughter, and niece, when they are with me, they don't get naps. Unless they just get so tired that they fall out. You really shouldn't have too much concern about your child being in the room by themself if the room is childproofed. Make sure that there is nothing she can easily grab that would hurt her and just lay her down if you want her to take a nap. If you just really don't want to do that, lay her on the couch where you can see her, or even make a little pallet out of blankets on the floor where she can't see the television. Naps are not always as important as for them to just lay there and relax for awhile.

That depends:
how early do they get up?
what does their day involve? childcare or home?
My child just turned 5 - has to wait to start kindergarten, he still takes a nap at the learning center. He is up at 6 am, he is stimulated mentally and physically all day...by 8 he is ready for bed. But on the weekends, even when he gets up at 6, he is not so consumed by so much, so he does not need a nap. I do make them lie down and watch a movie as quiet time and then they are good to go til bedtime.

usually around 5 years old they stop wanting to nap. You could try napping her around 3pm for 30 minutes to 1 hour. You can give her a snack @ 2pm then play then give her some warm tea or something that will comfort her. reading to her in bed whike you lay with her will help her feel comfortable and fall asleep. When she wakes she will feel better and you would have a little spare time to do other things.
My daughter did the same thing and this was my mothers advise. Good luck

I have a four year old daughter. Some days she still needs a nap and other days she doesn't. I have her lie in bed every afternoon for a half hour looking at books quietly. If she is tired she falls asleep. If she isn't, she doesn't. If you are uncomfortable about leaving her alone maybe try laying down with her. If that doesn't work maybe an earlier bed time would work for her.

My daughter will be 3 in Feb and already starting to skip naps. I think a lot of it depends on the child. My son stopped right before kindergarten. With my son I would lay with him and we would nap together. As soon as I put the t.v. to Fox News he was out like a light! Maybe she needs to start going to bed earlier if she is skipping naps.

My son is 3 y.o. and he still naps for almost 2 hours and get 9-10 hours a night. I would continue to have the child lie down for at least a 1/2 hour each day to rest.

Umm my little brother stopped at about age 3 and a half. Maybe instead of making her take naps put her to bed a little bit earlier so she is getting more sleep.
