I used to ask: "Can I see the cockpit, please?" and they usually let me. However, I'm only 15 years old.
One time, I was on an Air Canada Jazz DHC-8 YUL-YQB, and asked, and they said NO! I had just gotten off an AC A320, and they had let me.
Now, what I ask is: "Can I say hi to the pilots?", and they let me. I did it on the way back to Montreal, and from there to LGA on an Embraer E175 (you have got to see this, it's AMAZING!).
It also worked on four US Airways Shuttle flights (2 LGA-BOS, 2 BOS-LGA).
If you want to take pictures, try contacting the airline and see if they could give you a note or a pass with permission. If not, then ask the pilot really nicely, and don't take out the camera until you're in the cockpit, b/c the FA might not be so keen to let you in with a camera.
I usually go before the flight, but sometimes, I can go after, b/c then I have more time. I was on JetBlue once (more than once, actually), and they let me flip the seatbelt sign switch on the A320!
Good luck!

Ask the flight attendant. If the pilots are not too busy and if it is a long enough flight. Most are willing to accomodate and let you in to view and take photos. If they are busy and weather is bad they may turn you down. Don't take it personally if they do. IAs some of your answers have stated that you would be deemed a terrorist, "psh" to them.f they even thought you were a terrorist they wouldn't have let you board. When my daughter was in avaition school she took a flight to france, and they were more than willing to let her visit the flightdeck and discuss all the buttons and switches.
Good Luck

Things have gotten a lot stricter in recent years, but if you ask nicely and explain your fascination with airplanes they're likely to let you have a look. Some might be a bit paranoid and say no, but just ask again on the next flight then. They'll probably be most comfortable with it once the flight has landed. I've even gotten to see the control tower at an airport. The ATC guys were really happy to have someone to talk to and one of them spent like a half hour telling me about the motor-scooters he sells on the side while simultaneously directing air traffic.. talk about multi-tasking! I've never seen anything like that before.

The best time to visit the office of a pilot is either before gate departure or after landing thats if they allow you to. I would prefer after landing since they would be very busy in preparing the flight for departure so after landing would be the best. I dont think you should have problems with Iran Air. I have been to their cockpit many times during flight ... thats maybe because i spoke to them in persian and we were from the same country.

I too, have a fascination with almost anything and everything to do with airplanes. i just ask the flight attendant or pilot upon boarding or leaving the aircraft if i can have a peak into the cockpit. i dont think it would be a wise idea now to do so during the flight

They may not let you in the cockpit. It's not all it's cracked up to be. I am an aircraft mechanic, and have done extnsive work in cockpits. They are all so tiny! I could never fly a plane! I used to hate working under the rudder pedals. You pretty much have to be a contortionist to get in there. You could always just ask the crew members and explain to them your love of aviation. It might also help to tell them that you want to be a pilot, and would like to get a closer look at all of the controls

Confine it to your dreams and fantasies. You will NEVER be allowed into the cockpit of a commercial aircraft in flight. The reasons should be obvious. You might be able to grab a peek after landing. And there is a very slight chance that they might show you around since it wouldn't be possible to do anything untoward in that configuration.
Or, you COULD become a pilot. Then it will be YOUR office.
Or join your country's Air Force. Most mil flights WILL allow you into the cockpit even today, as long as you're military.

Talk with the Flight Attendant upon boarding. They could ask the pilots. Permission will likely be granted. Nothing secret up there, after all.

Most pilots will allow a quick visit into the flightdeck during boarding or upon deplaning. Most will allow a couple of photos to be taken. I'm sure you know that you will never be allowed in during flight.

After the flight would be your best chance. Talk to a flight attendant and ask if they allow non-employees in the flight cabin and that you want to ake a picture after the flight if its allowed.
