I dunno... did you ever blaspheme the holy spirit? ;)
Mark 3:29 But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation.

Yes!
Look at Peter. He denied he even knew Jesus and was forgiven.
Look at all the people in the Old test. Scoundrels and sinners; David who slept with a married women and had her husband killed.
Abraham who went to a foreign country and told the king his wife was his sister. He was afraid the king would kill him for his beautiful wife!
Adam and Eve
Lot and his daughters who were saved from Sodom. His daughters got him drunk and slept with him to get pregnant-eeew.
All were forgiven. "all sin and fall short of the glory of God'
If you did something so bad that can't be forgiven what sin was so bad that Jesus' sacrifice was not enough?
The bible says the only unpardonable sin is blaspheming the holy spirit-which is denying Jesus-this is what sends one to Hell.
You are now a child of God. You are HIS. Learn about him, "Faith comes by hearing the word of God"
God bless you dear!! Welcome to the family!

some really good responses here. If you have truely repented, and have accepted Christ into your heart and life,..then yes. You have been forgiven,...cool huh?
Now the hard part,...you just cant keep up with your old ways and expect His grace,....With Christ its either "all in" or its nothing.
You have been removed from your sins " as far as East is from the West",...but you still have to accept and deal with the consequenses of sin. God will forgive you of murder, stealing, or adultry,...YOU however still have to deal with the legal system.
The pathway is long and dangerous,...tempation will always be near,..stay the course, and keeppraying, and praying and praying.
Good luck to you, and Merry Christmas my friend!

Not only are you forgiven for what you have done, according to christianity you are forgiven for anything you will ever do. Now go figure that one out. GWB even if he admitted that he went to war in Iraq on the false premise that they had WMD (lets say he knew they didn't) and was then responsible for the deaths of thousands of soldiers he sent there, not to mention untold thousands of Iraqi women and children, is already forgiven by Jesus' death. Now you tell me that isn't the most screwed up form of a religion imaginable.

The gift of grace means that forgiveness is yours at any instant you can "have" it, and, in order to have it you must only repent. The idea of repenting involves our actually learning from our mistakes, owning the consequences, commiting to living differently, recognizing that while mistakes cannot be undone, by grace, we are forgiven. True repentance is not disconnecting from our past, but having an appropriate connection with it.

If you have honestly asked for forgiveness for the sins you've committed, then God has forgotten them. The hard part is going on from this point and trying to do the best you can do. As humans we're going to sin, but we can do our best to avoid situations that we know will be bad. And asking forgiveness is a continuous process. We should constantly be in prayer asking God to forgive us and bring us closer to him.

Once you receive salvation through Jesus Christ and you've repented for your sins, Jesus comes and washes away all your sins. You will continue to make mistakes but you must ask God for forgiveness and live according to His perfect will for your life. You have to allow God to guide you daily. It's not an easy walk. But with Jesus, all things are possible. You can't live for yourself (flesh) you have to live according the the Holy Spirit.
But, really to answer your question, if you live according to God's promises you will live life eternal in peace.

I do not know what you have been taught.... All who come to God in The Way He prescribes will receive His free gift of Salvation and will become of The Body of The Church of which Jesus The Christ is The Head. Those are the ones who are of The True Christian Faith. Only those of The Church will enter Heaven... being of a particular "denomination" will not get anyone into Heaven... Only By comeing to God in The Way... not by any man invented doctrin or dogma... not by "joining" a particular denomination... not in any way man decrees.... no man, pope, priest, doctrin or dogma can make any one of The True Christian Faith.... Only God determins who is of The Way and who is not.
All who come to God in The way He proscribes are forgiven. because God sees no sin in those covered by Christ's Blood.

Jesus' ransom sacrifice was HUGE.
HUGE. It atones for all of our sins. Every sin that every human has ever or will ever commit (save for, as another poster said, the unforgiveable sin of intentional blasphemy/grieving the holy spirit).
There is a Bible character named Mannasseh who is believed to have sawed (sawn?) the Prophet Isaiah (who wrote the book of Isaiah) in half. Later, Mannasseh repented and the scriptures say he found favour in the eyes of God.
If you doubt that Jesus' sacrifice can cover your sin, just what does that say to God? "Sorry God, that was a big sacrifice for you to make but MY sins are too big for you to cover with the blood of your Son"?
If you truly are repentant of your sins, you just have to MAKE SURE that from now on you are worshipping God in the way that HE requires to be worshipped and stay on the right course, endeavoring to live your life in harmony with Bible standards, then yes, you can be saved.
No matter what you did in the past.

You sound like this is a negotiated deal between you & God. How about a changed heart and a desire to turn away from sin?
