my mother never taught me anything about cycles or pregancy or sex. now im am ttc and clueless about signs and symptoms. but also one of the few out of my graduating class that doesnt have kids and has a college education.since my mother didnt educate me on these thing i have to rely on few sources i have since i have no close women to talk to about it. i think that mothers need to teach these thing so they wont try to learn the hard way.

We live in a different world now, unfortunately. I agree with you the there are way too many period/pregnancy questions on here. The boys should also be taught to act responsibley. Mothers are caught between a rock and a hard place nowadays. If you get them birth control, then it's like saying Hey have sex and be safe. On the other hand if you dont get it, then the risks are horriffic. teens just dont realize the ramifications of possibly having kids. Maybe try babysitting a few brats might be the best contraceptive around. I don't know good luck with that.

I'm totally 100% with you! My mother never taught me anything. I learned threw school & friends..which threw friends we all know is a mistake. But, I have 2 daughters of my own, they are ages 8 & 7 they both know that they can come to me with any question, and I will answer to the best of my ablity. It's a sad day when a 15 year old girl says I had sex yesterday, and I think I am pregnant. How can i tell?

unfortunatly it's more easy said then done.Everytime my mom would try to talk to me I would get embarrassed and mad and leave the room. It's not something that teens ,kids like talking about and for some parents it's difficult for them as well. Some parents believe all is taught in school which a lot is but not enough.Teens are affraid to go to parents cuz if u think about it if your kid came to u and asked u about sex what is the first thing that comes to mind i know my thought would be is he or she planning to have sex and as a parents that's a scary thought the last thing we want is our kids to not finish school n live there life because they have to be a parent.I have 2 children and they r 5 and 8 my son who is 8 has come home and repeated things he has heard at school n i am hoping my kids will feel comfortable enough to come to me but i have discussed with my son a bit already and the older he gets the more in deapth i will get and make sure my kids r prepared if that is a decision they need to make (to have sex or not).I will also teach them that being a parent isn't easy either and you have no life etc so if they r planning to do it they know what can happen .I am not scared to talk to my kids but a lot of parents r,so I understand why these questions r asked cuz some parents would freak if they came to them with questions and asume the worst.Thats when they need to be a parents and teach the chil what they need to know but some forget and then it's to late.Anyway sorry for blabbin on and have a great x-mas and happy holidays bye for now.

yes! i agree. i know that any questions about our bodies that my sister an i ever had our mom answered for us!
this is a nice forum for questions like "what are good shower gifts?" or "did you have an epidural?"
we don't know if these people are pregnant or not...no matter how many dates and times of sex and periods you give us!!!
i mean, sex is sex...it leads to pregnancy. that's the point. you don't wanna get pregnant, then get birth control or don't have sex!!
oh, boy! i've been doing a good job of tuning out these questions and now i'm getting fired up!!
thanks;)~

i know what ur saying. i learned about periods and pregnancy and symptons when i was 10. my mom didnt even come to me to talk til i was 14 and i already got pregnant. she kinda laughed it off cuz she knew i already knew it, but she felt it was her motherly duty. i think that kids should be taught this as soon as they hit puberty. at 11, 12, 13 these days. i got my period when i was 9 and i already had older mens attention when i was 12 (i hit puberty too early) and mom didnt jump at the chance to talk to me. if she did i wouldnt have had to learn it through my own research (which i research ALOT) my daughter is too young to ask about sex (shes 3) but i am going to make sure its clear to her that she can ask me ANYTHING about sex and pregnancy and boys, (im hoping she doesnt think im too "uncool" lol to ask for this help. but since we are only going to be 14 years apart, it might be different, i dotn really know.

I think for the most part it is taught. I think that the people that ask these question are hoping against hope. Hoping that a complete stranger will give them the answer they are looking for, even if it isn't correct.
