Have her spayed NOW. It will be cheaper than the c-section and much safer for the dog.

try you the humane society or animal rescue league. they spay and nueter for around $80-$100. and they know what they're doing. it's actualy vets that work at a vet's office that come into the humane society to fix pets for people who can't pay the insane ammounts of money vets ask. they should be able to help you with the puppies too. also you could probably work soemthing out to pay in portions, if you have a vet that truely care about animals they'd rather the dog be okay and get the moeny little bits at a time than endanger the dog.

they can also do abortions, when they fix the dog they just removed the puppies. it is only a little more expensive than a normal spaying.

good luck!

there is a good chance that she will miscarry as her little body will likely be too small to carry the puppies of a larger male. Consult a vet - if she cannot afford a normal vet she should call an animal shelter or a vet school. If she does carry to full term then the birth of these puppies could seriously harm or kill the mom.

I have a small yorkie (4lbs) and it was $400 to spay her, I got quotes from several trusted vets .. one vet did quote us over $900 so that cost is possible.

Get a credit card or payment plan from your vet cause it is likely that due to the size difference they're likely to get larger pups than what the Chi can handle...so you're either going to owe money or end up with a dead Chi and a bunch of dead puppies. Than as soon as possible get one or both dogs fixed. Do a internet search for low or no cost spay/neuter clinics in your area... check your local humane society or various rescue groups

Find a humane society or shelter near you and call for help (www.petfinder.com) and get a referral to a vet who does inexpensive spay/neuter ($100??) and GO. $900 is outrageous and sounds like a rip-off to me.

A two pound chi is far too small to be bred. Good chi breeders don't like to use females under 5 pounds. This could kill her. I don't even know if a 2 pound female could carry pups from a 6 pound chi to term, never mind a 14 pound doxie.

Call ASAP. I have no clue if she could bleed out (bleed to death) if she miscarries.

Get any intact males fixed while you're booking appointments.

Good luck.

A c-section is going to run near $2000, so I guess the spay $ seems reasonable now.

You need to take the dog to the spca or a reasonable vet (My vet charged $65 for my 15lb dog's spay).

They can administer a shot to the b*tch so she will abort the pups and then they can spay her.

DO NOT DELAY! Even carrying the pups can damage and/or kill the Chi. DO NOT WAIT! GO TO THE VET NOW!

Start looking for a home for the puppies.

And your friend should think about giving up the adult dogs. If he can't afford to be a responsible owner, he shouldn't have them. With all the animals in the shelters in this country, spaying and neutering is considered a required kind of animal care.

She needs to be spayed immediately to save her life. Maybe the vet will let him make payments or he can get a loan for the surgery.

She should of been spayed before reaching sexual maturity. You shouldn't own a dog if you can't properly afford it's care.

I've never heard of a neuter or spay costing 900 dollars. Where in the world did she get it done? You need to consult a vet, that's for sure.

Let the dog be born. I have a friend who has that exact type of dog. A dachshund and chihuahua mix. My friend calls it a Chaweeny. He's got a long body, not quite as long as a dachshund, and the cute face of a chihuahua. So I do see any reason to be upset about it.
