Last year (at 24) I was diagnosed with Hodkgin's Disease. My doctors have all been very positive, despite the fact that my cancer became resistent to initial chemo and I was sent in for high dose chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant.
Hodgkin's disease is one of the most treatable and curable forms of cancer. Odds for a 28 year old that is in otherwise good health are very good, probably in the 90+% range.
Even though I've had one setback, my doctors are still very positive that I will be cured. Best of luck to you and the young woman that was diagnosed.
There is a wonderful community for young adults and their family's to talk to others like them (that age group) and learn about their experiences. Just go to: www.planetcancer.org We are a strange sort of group, with dark (cancer) humor but very supportive and willing to share our personal experiences with cancer. (There are many Hodgkin's patients and former patients there, since it's predominantly found in young adults)

i am a 22 year old female. i was recently diagnosed with stage 2a hodgkins lymphoma. i went through chemo 7 times (3.5 cycles) and i start radiation on dec. 18. radiation is every weekday until jan 18. they are only doing radiation to make sure everything is gone. my body reacted amazingly to the chemo and my doctors are very optimistic that after this radiation, i will be cured. the thing with hodgkins is that this is a cancer where they for the cure...not just to put it in remission. a lot of my chemo nurses told me that i had the "best" cancer since hodgkins has one of the highest cure rate in all the cancers. keep your head up and good luck!!

It all depends on how far advanced it is when diagnosed.
The sooner the better. Also, is she is otherwise healthy. the odds improve.
Overall, Hodgkin's has a relatively high cure rate if caught early.
