In general, Tennessee does not have to recognize a Texas exemption document for sales tax purposes. However, if you purchased something in Tennessee for an exempt reason, Tennessee may have an exemption document that allows out of state vendors to use to make a purchase exempt from Tennessee sales tax.

I am assuming you want to buy "for resale" in TN. If you plan on buying and reselling in TN, you need to be registered in TN.
If you will be reselling in Texas, my quick and dirty research indicates yes Tennessee will recognize an out of state permit and allow the resale exemption. However, do not plan on most wholesalers knowing that or knowing how to verify that.

? I would think not as they are issued by the state that you are licensed in ( they are used to collect state/municipal tax) but they might for something like mail orders ?
