If people could get away with blaming soceity for everything, I should be able to shoot that stupid person that cut me off in traffic on the Ventura Freeway this morning. Because in Los Angeles, people do that. So if soceity does it, why can't I?

Seriously, If after 22 years, someone hasn't made an effort to become legal, and then commits a crime, then yes, they should be deported. I am sure that if an effort had been made, then they would no longer be an illegal.

I have a friend that came to this country 5 years ago, and went through 3 years of Bureaucratic Nonsense to be here legally, and be able to work and earn a living. And he has been told that it could be another 7 - 10 years before he will become a citizen. If he does anything illegal during this time period, he will lose his eligibility, and be deported.

So, your friend has had 22 years, 6 as an adult, pre 9/11, to have taken care of his immigrant status. He chose not to, then he chose to commit a crime. Nobody's fault but is own.

I know that this sounds harsh, but it is what it is.

the law is the law. This person had 22 years and maybe 10 more in jail to file for citizenship. Obviously this person and or their parents didn't care enough about our civil culture, to want to be a part of it. they also proved this by commiting a crime. Why should our country keep this person here when we have the ability to get rid of them. Also do not blame American Society for a person's actions. Everyone makes their own choices. If american society creates criminals and is to blame. Then everyone would be in jail. As a person you make a decision to be civil or to be a criminal. The choice you make has results.

It is fair and it is the law. You have a responsibility to become legal, regardless of how long you have been in the USA!
