I used to cook them for my Dad and he always had me coat them with flower and cook them in a skillet with a little bit of oil in the skillet to cover the whole pan. You could add salt and pepper before you coat them in flower if you wanted to, but if you ever cook any kind of steak and wanted to add salt and pepper you would have to do that first or you would just have salt and pepper in your flour instead of your meat. You should set your temp at medium low or medium. I also always used the unseasoned tenderizer powder too. You don't add salt if you use this though. It comes in a little plastic container with a red lid on it. The container will say Tenderizer with a picture of meat on it and the bottom of it says original unseasoned. Depending on what kind of stove you have, my Dad has a gas stove,so it only took about 15 to 20 minutes.

i would broil. IF the meat is good, you only need to use salt (preferably kosher salt) and pepper and rub a little whole butter on there. and broil the steaks for like 3-6 minutes each side, depending how rare you want them. No foil. No water. I wish my wife could cook a steak. She's a pretty good cook but cant cook a steak to save her life.

Pan Broiled Steak with Bourbon Sauce

INGREDIENTS:
4 sirloin strip steaks, 1-inch thick
1 tablespoon coarsely crushed black peppercorns
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 teaspoon salt
.
Bourbon Sauce
4 ounces butter
2 tablespoons chopped onion
1 clove garlic, minced
2 tablespoons Bourbon
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
dash Tabasco sauce
PREPARATION:
Trim excess fat from steaks. Press crushed peppercorns and garlic into both sides of steaks and let stand at room temperature for an hour. Heat a heavy iron skillet over high heat. Oil bottom lightly, or use a piece of steak fat to grease.
Sprinkle about half of the salt in the skillet. Sear steaks quickly on one side. Remove and add remaining salt to skillet. Sear steaks on other side. Reduce hat to medium and continue to cook until done to your liking. Remove to a warm platter and keep warm.
Pour off excess fat from skillet. Melt butter over low heat; add onion and garlic and sauté until tender. Add bourbon, Worcestershire sauce, dry mustard, and Tabasco. Blend well and simmer for 2 minutes. Pour over steaks.

Make a foil boat and put the meat in plus 1 can cream of mushroom soup and 1 package dry onion soup mix. Close foil and bake at 350 degrees until meat is tender.
