Good grief! What a load of s....te some of these answers are. I'm in that age group you mentioned and I still love getting jewellery [any kind] good perfume, bottle of Bacardi, nice clothes, and things the grandkids have made. Of course, gift cards for books and cds/dvd's come in handy too but only because I have that many no-one knows what I've read, heard or seen already! And unusual things that make me laugh are always welcome. At the moment I'm after the wind up figures off the phone ad on the telly. Anyone know where I can get them?

In a lot of cases gift cards or cash.

It is simple and allows the user to purchase what they could use the most, saving both the giver and the receiver the hassle of keeping gift receipts and or returning items that are not to their liking or style.

Here, I do try to avoid the gift card / cash thing, but sometimes it can't be helped as I have no idea what to purchase for someone older.

Tickets to concerts (everything from the Rolling Stones to the Symphony depending upon the individual), CD's, clothing, spa certificates, grooming products, IPods, digital cameras, exercise equipment. Actually, pretty much things any adult would want. At the very top of your range (70) you would probably have to adjust for a few things. In general, though, our group is NOT inactive and over-the-hill. Most of us are still ambulatory and senility hasn't yet set in : )

We older people buy the same kind of products you younger people do, we also have to buy gifts for younger people and older people. As for me you can send me a 7 course meal (6 pack & a hotdog)

Women like perfume, night gowns or pjs, candles, books, house shoes and some women have things they collect.

Men like knives, guns, books, tools, golfing stuff, GPS systems, or any new gadgets which just came out.

These are some affordable gifts.

I'm in that age group & I've bought a reindeer hand puppet, a pop-up penguin, books, socks, a 'handy dispenser' of dog-poo bags, a jigsaw puzzle, chocolates, a pashmina, pens, toiletries, chocolate mice, 'paint your own piggy bank'.....
i bought myself some reindeer antlers with bells on & vodka mixes
does that help??

Don't know what you mean.
If for others the same as younger people buy, I should think.
For each other smellies, chocs, books, perfume, CDs,slippers,
jewellery the same as most people give each other.
I am 55 please don't anyone buy me socks.or hot water bottle!
My husband and i have treated ourselves to two weeks in Jamaica so we wont be giving many gifts to each other.
Merry Christmas .
