I see these every once in a while (someone keeps putting them in the bathrooms where I work) and I must say, all the seem to do is paint Christianity in a rediculous light. I mean, how silly is the one about D&D (http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/0046/0046_01.asp ? And how dumb are the ones about Evolution (http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/1051/1051_01.asp , Muslims (http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/1054/1054_01.asp , and Homosexuality? (http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/1052/1052_01.asp

I mean, what was Jack Chick on? I can't believe someone actually thinking "This preachy, badly drawn, borderline offensive comic will make someone think Christianity is great! I'll leave it next to a urinal!"

Is there anyone here who actually thinks Chick Tracts help recruit converts? Can you defend them?

Here's a whole bunch, have a laugh.

Wow! They still spread this ancient dreck about? I recall seeing that crap back in the 80's in the EXACT SAME FORMAT! You'd think they'd update their crap. Yeah. I'm an old fart. Whatever. I also DM'd D&D games and thought these goofy comics were hilarious because - at the time - I was a Christian and those goofy stories were pretty far from what I was experiencing. On the other hand, I have seen the sort of Jim Jones cult-leader sort of DM since then. They make for a pretty boring and sad DM. Stupid narcissistic gits. So I suspect that anyone gullible and boring enough to play D&D with a self-indulgent jerk might actually buy into these little comics. Hopefully they would be few and far between because that would mean there would be far more egomaniac psycho-DMs out there than what I've met. Then again, I've generally felt that people are stupid, so why not?

I am of The True Christian Faith and I will state that, in my opinion, these methods often go too far to the rediculous.... But I looked at the ones you posted and The Truth of God's word is in each of them... unfortunatly also some errors... in scientific and cultural issues, not in God's Word.... I do not believe these methods do all that much good in acuratly portraying The Truth of God's Word and The Truth of The Salvation Message.

I have however heard of some who started their way on the correct path that eventualy led them To The Truth of God and to their Salvation by first reading some of these tracts...so I can not compleatly condem them....

I can't believe they do; in reality, they probably have the opposite effect. One of them that was given to me (second hand as a joke) talked about schools trying to push astrology on children and some kind of Satanic underground group was behind that, the UN, evolution, the Masons, and ad nauseum.

I've seen other areas of their website, and it is thoroughly stupid. One place promoting the "King James Version" only thing actually stated that translators remove things from other versions of the Bible as if they get some sort of thrill out of doing it! The guy is an idiot.

What was he on? Apparentley a big dose of Religious Dogma.
Help convert? LOL, yes, but not educated people
Defend them? No, I dont even want to try

Look, they are a nice though, little cartoons, amke it easy to understand God, but somewhere they went WAY wrong with this idea. I am a Christian, and the only thing these are good for is a rolling bout of laughter.

Jack Chick has some serious issues--and is way out of touch with reality--where does he get this tripe?

EDIT -I agree with big foot here, this has to be an athiest mocking christianity, like that guy who did the old brick testament

My daughter collects religious tracts. She likes the ones that are in other languages besides English. We like it when someone gives us one. And no, I am not Christian. These people mean well. The next time someone hands you one, smile and say thanks and walk on. You'll be surprised at how relaxed you feel.

I think its possible. They literally scare the hell out of you.

I think Chick is a whackjob myself and Chickinism has influenced many good Christians to believe insane things like the Jesuit Conspiracy, etc

my friend who was top model in Philadelphia was converted by reading one of his tracts. Shes a missionary in India now with her husband and daughter. Theyve been there for many many years. Many of the Chick tracts are deeply offensive but this one she read was simply about eternal life.

Personally, I don't give them much credit. Like anything else, Christianity has groups of people who "make a living" and call it a "mission". This may well be one of them.

I'm thinking of making some "Yak(pbut)* Tracks". Interested in helping?

* peace be upon them

They are seed planters. A tract is intended to spread the gospel, not necessarily convert someone on the spot. I like the new avatar---nice job on the hair.
