In 2003 I upgraded from Me to XP home. My PC was crashing and slow so I decided it was time to reinstall everything. I installed WindowsMe the XP. After XP it ask for 25 diget product key. I did and it keeps asking me to register. I have 30 days. I clicked on online registration and it said it can not make online contact and to try calling the automated#.
Is there something I can do to speak to someone or bypass all together. I put the 25 digets in 4 times...

Backup your machine, reformat the computer and reinstall windows XP fresh. You are going to run into nothing but problems if you try to run an upgrade from ME to XP, I have done it hundreds of times, and never had a good upgrade without having to repair things.
After you do so, you should be able to register properly.
If you are finding that you cannot register afterwards, you need to make sure that the copy of XP and the license is not a bogus or invalid one. There are some sites that will sell what look to be good copies of XP, only to find out that you were scammed.
Best way to check this is to call the number they give you in the telephone activation, and keep typing or saying random numbers or letters, you will eventually get ahold of a live person, give them the information that XP presents to you, and if they say that it is invalid, explain the situation, and sometimes they will direct you to a place where you can get a good key, or will provide you a link to a website that will allow you to purchase a valid key from microsoft, and you can report the person who scammed you.

If you have a legal copy than just call microsoft and tell will help you right off. I have never had any problems one trying to contact people.
