My Doctorate in Educational Technology and research into this question suggests that YES technology can and does affect not only the way students CAN LEARN, but the amount they can learn in a given time.
Of all the learning applications that computer technology can be used for we found that repetitive drilling exercises helped the student learn the most and retain it longer. Two factors help in this. First, the computer is patient and works at the level of student pacing needs and second, the pressure of learning was off so the student could retain learning longer rather than cram for a test and then forget it. Our testing indicated that those who cram for a test forget information sooner. The computer aided in preparing students more with less stress and thus helped them in retaining the information longer.
Testing from an evaluation and prescriptive perspective (as developed by NWEA) was another successful use of technology.
One more phenomena was that after computers or new software are first introduced, students tend to USE the technology more initially because of the novelty affect since it is new to them. This affect wears out over time.
My best suggestion to you or any other teacher (including my self) is to use technology as a teaching tool and method, but use other methods to help all students learn. The computer will never replace us as teachers, but it can be used as a great tool to help us better help our students to learn.

Yes, it does both ways though!
It certainly make the student to learn to work with ease, as using calculators and computers make the life so easy.
On the other hand, using too much of these devices make the people depend on these machines a bit too much.
For example I will rely on word processor for spellings, on the other hand my dad is so good at spelling that I have to use his help if I am away from computer. Same with other things, I use PDA to keep in track with my oppointments and stuff, which is good but does not allow my brain to think about it till my PDA rings... these are just few examples.
I think having some extra help is fine, but depending too much of technology make our brain partially disable.

Absolutely! Technology has stipulated the methods for learning as well as the resources in today's world. For example, today kids have computers in the classroom with internet access. This causes us to be less reliant on books, newspapers, and other reference sources designating the new standard of learning.
