How short do you want to go? If your hair is straight, I would go with a long bob, like when Jennifer A. cut hers off, easy to do and looks so cute. Have the ends razored and it gives great texture. Or if you want waves in it just layer it and use a curling iron. I have long brown hair and color it with a carmel type highlights, not drastic but a little lift.

If your hair is long and have been growing it a while, you may not want to do anything drastic, say...cutting it above your shoulders. I would suggest perhaps putting some layers in your hair so that you will have some bounce and little oomph. All you would have to do is use a little spray gel while your hair is damp and then "scrunch" it.
If you're looking to color it and still leave the length, try some temporary hair rinses (like Fanci-full) which wash out in 1 shampoo for some fun.

i have that kind of hair too, but i have bangs, and as changes i coloured my hair a little lighter brown (colour called Sahara, not dark brown with golden tone), like it very much, it seems that i've change it and at the same time not really, but hair looks fresh and neat! also i have bangs, but now i grow it a little so next month i can cut it in layers with other hair in front. (hope you can understand me, cause i'm russian, and sometimes english gets me). I like changes but not radical!
Also you can cut it a little, acctually you need to cut your ends once a month for about cm or more, your hair also would look renewed and healthy!

P.S. Just don't do highlights, it's so in the past! and highlighed hair doesn't look too good, it harms them! This time there are so many profeccional things in hairdressing, like painting (Wella does that) on your hair (new version of highliting) but looks more natural and beautiful!!!

I have long straight brown hair too. I died my hair blonde and everyone gives me compliments. And I just feel like a different person! I have also thought about getting a spiral. Which I would think would look gr8. Just have fun with it!

Either hightlight it OR perm it, not both. It'll fry your hair. I took my long borwn hair and put low-light and high-lights in it and got it layered so it has more volume and will hold curl better. Try to find a picture(s) of what you like and take it to a slaon and show them. good luck

Curls and bangs are very cute. Try some highlights if you want. If you want something drastic cut it short (not off) Hope this helps.

I think that you should get some highlights. That's what I do cause I am nervous about dying or cutting my hair.

i wouldnt dye it [ it ruins your hair ]. i would go with maybe curling it with a curling iron in front , make it look a little wavey. add some moose for a finishing touch. volume is good

id say a really pretty blonde highlights like hmmmm Golden blonde or Honey blonde like some1 above said because blonde will make it shine!

Put some crimps in your hair or put a loose wavy perm.
