On cnn.com, there is a story about a mom who asked valets to watch her kid in her BMW for her while she went inside a mall in California and shopped with her dog inside a Neiman Marcus store. The valet called his mom, who told him to call the cops. What do you think should happen with the mom?

I think she should get nailed for abuse. If you don't want to take it in the store with you, have another adult in the car, or leave the child with a babysitter.
At least she remembered she had a kid in the car. I remember a couple years ago a woman left her infant in the car all day while she was at work in the middle of the summer, and guess what, child died of heat. Her excuse: she thought she'd already dropped the kid at the sitter's. How do you miss something like that?

That is so horrible. I hadn't heard that. I think that anyone who thinks mall valets are appropriate babysitters but not dog watchers should not be able to have kids, but since she already has him I hope that they can find a relative to take the child so that he/she doesn't have to go through the foster care system.

Yes the behavior is despicable. But how often does this type of action happen? Often! Child abuse and neglect as well as many other types of violence is rampant. What it really says is something about our violent society. I do not believe she should go scott free by any means. On the contrary, violent people should not be allowed into society. However, if you are really interested in prevening this type of thing, you must learn how to change society for the better. There are many ways and opinions on that one but the best one is first of all change yourself. Be your best you. Be the person you think others should be. That alone is a significant and radical change for the better...and see my question, and answer if you will: If you have knowledge of mental illness, do you think our general society is mentally ill?....or something close to that.

She obviously didn't want the kid! What other way can you think of safely getting rid of a kid. Now the child can go to a family that will hopefully care for him. She probably was talked out of having an abortion, had the kid and her feeling didn't change for the kid. She should be sterilized and that's it.

She should have the child removed from her care. It should be placed into the foster care system like would happen if this was a low income mother. The mother should then be required to take parenting classes and undergo counseling to determine if she's a fit mother. If the determination is that she is unfit the child should be placed with foster parents for eventual adoption.

She should be charged with endangering a child and the child should be removed from her custody.
What she did was child endangerment, she left her child in the care of a total stranger who for all she new could of been a sexual predator or a child killer, she is very lucky this man called the cops and did not kill the child or sexually assault the child.

She needs to act like a mother and be a mother to her child!
First of all, a child is your pride and joy, a miracle from god and your world. How can you pick that over a dog? She needs to spend sometime in jail. I have two children and I never leave my children in the car. Even if I'm at 7 Eleven. Your children come first before any darn pet, or anything else for that matter!

the mom should be put away for at least 25 yrs at a center for deranged mentally ill patients...and have no access to anyone ever..and if that doesnt work...hang her from the highest tree in town so all others would think twice about doing that!

Arrest her. How did she get away with bringing a dog into a store? That's messed up. She's lucky her son wasn't kidnapped by a pedophile.

I think the mom shouldnt be a mom and should have the child taken away from her. She should do sometime in jail with out her pet!
