Today is her Feast Day. Her name means "light". She is the Parton Saint of the Blind, all blindness and diseases of the eye. Maybe you can donate some time or money to the Braille Institute or Guide Dogs for the Blind? Or perhaps go visit a blind person during the holidays?

I would like to plant some St. Lucy's wheat.

My sister is legally blind. The St. Lucy Society provided her with training, a computer, & continuing education.

Great question!

ya it is too....I never heard about St. Lucy before. I learnt something today. I thought this was a joke so I went to my mass book "Living with Christ" and sure enough, this isn't someone trying to be funny. Thanks for the heads up about St. Lucy. Our Priest usually fills us in on these things before mass...but our local church doesn't have morning mass on Wednesday's. I'm going to go say a Rosary...that's what I'm going to do for St. Lucy's Day. Best I can do on such short notice. (peace be with you)

When you said St. Lucy I was thinking of the hominid bones. I didn't know she was sainted.

Adding an extra rosary, but other then that, nothing. I didn't even know that was today. This week is flying by fast.

OH, and getting my new glasses on Sat. I'm blind without them.

Sorry. I don't pray to or worship dead people. Scriptures say that God is no respector of persons and doesn't honor some above others. It says that the Saints are those who believe in Christ, not some dead folks who are more special than others and who God likes better than you.

Good ideas for outreach and actively loving others though. Your suggested actions are kind and good.

I'm going to beat up Linus.

And snatch the football away from Charlie Brown when he tries to kick it.

Thanks Father. I never heard of it before. Actually, I just met a man who has his blind father living with him. Suppose this is an omen?

Or pray for the healing of someone's eyes....doesn't Jesus still heal today?

I don't do things to honour dead patron saints. I do things to honour my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
