yes. Karma is not a god. But if an atheist did believe in karma then there must think that there is something bigger then them.

Probably not. In the first place you should define "karma", and then you should come up with reproducible evidence that it exists. If you do this in a convincing way, open minded people will be convinced. But why should anyone "believe" in it?

Sure. My bf is an atheist pagan, and he believes that whatever you send out comes back to you. It's a matter of assuming that Newton's third law applies to everything--so whatever energy you put out has to be returned to you to keep everything balanced.
The way that he believes karma works doesn't need a deity.

If by karma you mean cause and effect I don't see why not. I should say so long as you are not saying that some pink monkey is out there judging this or that human action!
Cause and Effect is definately real and we can see evidance of this in all aspects of life! Far more then can be said of Pink Monkeys!

Karma, as I understand it, means that the kind of energy you project out into the world is the same as the energy that will be reflected back at you. I think that's largely true.

If you treat karma as a balancing force, like a chemical equilibrium for instance, it wouldn't need a higher power to regulate it.

As long as you don't believe it as a religion but more of a fact of life I would say yes.
Athiest's can believe in lots of things...they just don't have to believe in organized religion....or deites- definition below. Good question.
Atheism is the state of disbelief or non-belief[1] in the existence of a deity or deities.[2] It is commonly defined as the positive denial of theism (ie. the assertion that deities do not exist),[3] or the deliberate rejection of theism (i.e., the refusal to believe in the existence of deities).[4] However, others—including most atheistic philosophers and groups—define atheism as the simple absence of belief in deities[5][6][7] (cf. nontheism), thereby designating many agnostics, and people who have never heard of gods, such as the unchurched or newborn children, as atheists as well.[8][9] In recent years, some atheists have adopted the terms strong and weak atheism to clarify whether they consider their stance one of positive belief no gods exist, or of negative unbelief.[

Atheists pretend. Karma doesn't. So whether they like it or not, what they sow, so shall they reap!
