Some whitening toothpastes can help, but to be honest their effect is minimal, given the cost of most of them.
The only surefire way is to have the teeth specially treated for a "hollywood smile". It's so obviously false though, nobody's teeth are naturally that white anyway.
Some ways to reduce staining and discolouring are not smoking and limiting intake of drinks that contain a lot of "tannins", such as coffee, tea, cola, red wine etc.

Whitening toothpastes can have some effect on surface staining but they can be quite abrasive so only use it once a day and use regular toothpaste the rest of the time, watch out for over the counter home bleaching systems, I'm not convinced they work so go by recommendation.

Use a whitening toothpaste every day (and/or a whitening rinse) in conjunction to whitening strips or whitening trays. I used whitening trays (I think I used the Rembrandt kind) a few days before my wedding and my teeth were noticeably whiter.
