When it comes to trucks, NOBODY touches Ford.

Go to consumerreports.com and you can check the reliability of any given make or model over the years. On the whole, Chevy beats Ford, but it seems to be kind of an individual thing-- some Fords run better than come Chevys, and Ford Explorers have terrible repair histories on the whole. I have driven a Chevy Blazer for years-- I have a 92 with almost 170,000 miles on it, and it is still going strong. It's hard to beat that!!! Having had such a good Chevy, I wouldn't touch a Ford.

I will warn you you have opened a can of worms-- Ford vs Chevy is an emotional topic for a lot of people.

When it comes to trucks theirs little to choose from as both are equally good. However when it comes to cars the Chevy is always the best bet. The power train of the Chevy is unbeatable for proof all you have to do is look at all the ford hot rods with Chevy engines in them. I have owned nothing but GM cars and was only once truly disappointed and that was an Oldsmobile knock off of a cavalier the olds having all sorts of electrical problems. I have owned cavaliers, caprice and Corsica and owned each for several years before rust killed them except the Corsica which i own now keep in mind i bought these cars used and the newest of them was 5 years old and it just turned 11 years old this year. This is pretty good for a Vermont car due to the heavy amounts of salt we deal with. I suspect I'll have this car for several more years to come.

I would argue for Ford being the better truck brand - maybe not for comfort and features and all of that, but for durability and reliability I think they're on top. I live in an area with a lot of mines and every one, along with every vendor or service provider that works at the mines uses Ford trucks exclusively in their fleet. If you take good care of them they'll take a huge beating and last you for years.

Ford hands down: Chevy's will not stand up to rough country and oil field roads like the Ford's do. I own both and am always having a lot more rough road battle damage troubles from the Chevy. It is just not built as heavy duty as the Ford.

my personal pick would be a ford for 2 reasons. 1. ford is more heavy duty take a look under the front of a ford and then look under a chevy, independent suspension belongs on cars not trucks. 2. i love fords.

Vehicles have become so reliable in the past few decades that in reality it is difficult to answer this question. Wha tit coms down to is the extra's you want. No matter what you buy, you can always get soemthing that has lots of problems in any brand. Out of the last three vehicles I have had, Oldsmobile, Ford, and Dodge, all three have served me well with few repairs and I have been happy with all of them. If you treat your vehicle right and maintain it, either should serve you well.
