um... there are few different meaning... I'm assuming you aren't looking for the X-rated one...

Rigid means "not flexible," so a rigid person is set in his or her ways and not willing to change or "lighten up"

It can have 2 meanings

1. Someone's body is actually stiff ex "We found the dead body and it was there so long it was rigid" (stiff)

2. Someone has a hard personality...they don't joke a lot
ex. "The prison guard was rigid even though we were telling jokes" (doesn't laugh or smile)

either that they are stiff, as in they are not flexible and won't move.
But it more likely means that they are determined to have things done their way and are not easily convinced of other ways of doing things. They are not flexible. It also means they are strict.

they are up tight, they wont bend or break any rules. in other words they are friends that arent fun to hand out with.
