I've been both but I'm a brunette at the minute.
If you are very dark, going blonde is a commitment, you will have to change your make up, maybe even give your brows a finer shape. You also will have to have your root done often, otherwise your hair will look permanently dirty. You may also find that your hair goes a little dry, as dark hair needs bleach to strip the colour.
I liked both, totally a personal preference. I have dark in the winter and go lighter in the Summer!!
Why not start with highlights and keep building on it???

I have brunette hair and I just put some highlights in to give it the blonde effect without totally bleaching my whole hear of hair. I was just wanting to do something different and now I like it. Your hair will grow back and it is so easy to cover the blonde if you don't like it. Try it why not, just be careful not to end up with orange or red hair. I would be sure to tell the stylist, absolutely no orange or red tones.

I have naturally chestnut brown hair, but I used to colour it since I was 14 years old.
Think before you dye it blonde, as it tends to turn orange after a few days, unless of couse you use bleach. Take care. Hope that this helps you out.
Last week I had blonde haie ( I did a highlights in Sept 2006), but now since it's winter, i prefer brown hair , so I dyed it with Viva Color of Wella - hazelnut blonde (light brown).

I've been blond most of my life (40 yrs). I went dark 2 years ago - after a summer of swimming alot, it went way too light. If you plan on changing , perhaps you should do it gradually. Try some blonde high-lights, so that it looks sun-kissed. You may not be prepared for a drastic change.

This is such a pointless question! Everyone has a different preference, niether is better!
Chances are, if you are naturally a brunette, you will not look good as a blonde. Your roots will show after a week and your eyebrows will be too dark.

The majority of brunettes do not look good as a bleached blonde. If you want a change, I would advise going reddish or else putting some bronze streaks in your hair.

my advice is go for it, a change is always liberating and really if you don't like it, it's not that difficult to go back to your original colour providing you have a good hairdresser!
It would prob be sensible to go lighter gradually though rather than full on platinum blonde straight away, could be a shock to the system!!!
Personally speaking, blondes do have a hell of a lot of fun!

brunette....why submit yourself to all the jokes out there about blondes. i will say this (as a brunette who has been a blonde) unless your hair is in fantastic condition, dont even think of it. it took me about 5 years to undo the damage that going blonde caused to my hair.
