Oooooo...Girls that age usually LOVE to be creative. How about a bunch of things to write and color with...like markers, colored pencils, or stickers? Or...you could go to a scrapbooking store and buy her a few scrapbook materials and get ahold of some pics of her daddy to make a scrapbook of he and her. You could also find some children's projects at Micheals that she might like.
Good luck. it's sweet that you're trying so hard to find something perfect for her. I'm sure she'll appreciate it.

I think her punishment was a little too much . Writing something 50 times for a 6 year old is a lot. As a teacher I will tell you that making kids write sentences is not a constructive form of discipline and can cause them to learn to dislike writing. As for the way you feel. Is there something else there causing your feelings? After all she is only 6 years old. She is not a hardened criminal and I doubt a lot of thought went into her act. She is not evil and doomed for a life of crime . She is a little girl who made a mistake and probably won't repeat it. What if you made an error of some type and despite the fact you were punished , you were sorry and you had no intentions of doing it again , someone you loved and looked up to just couldn't really forgive you and harboured resentment? How would you feel? Now immagine if you were only 6 years old ? Finally , do you have children of your own? I can not help but wonder if this little girl was your own flesh and blood would you still be so angry 6 months later or could you have already chalked it up to a child making a mistake and moved on? Maybe you need to really look at your own motivation for the anger.

Get her some dolls. Can't go wrong with dolls. Barbie or Bratz dolls are very popular. Or how about Polly Pocket? E-Z Bake Oven - I know I loved mine when I was that age. There are so many things for little girls - go to the toy store or Target and check out the cool stuff they have.

This is a sticky situation if you don't really know her. I do want to say that you are a great person for effort. The problem is if you buy her barbies she may not be into dolls and is into let's say...soccer. Then if you bought her soccer things she may not like them and be interested in something else.
If I may, I would like to offer the following suggestions. I found them to be accepted at such events such as birthday parties and things like that.
Crayons, coloring books, books for her age. Puzzles are good for that age. My kids all liked puzzles at that age and they are very educational. Legos are good, and once again educational. A bunch of stickers and special paper is fun, or a cd player [the kid's kind] with some cd's for kids. Antz in the pants game, any of those games for kids. My son loved them!
There are many options. I would choose something that is fairly generic that way she will probably like it. Good luck to you.

Pick/Set a time just for YOU and HER to go shopping, see a movie or go to a theme park...etc.
The time that you spend with her is far more valuable than any gift. Use the money to buy, lunch, ice cream, ballon, stuff animal while you both have a very special time together. You both will walk away with far more love/respect for each other than any gift could convey on the market these days!!! Good Luck!

I have a six year old step daughter and she is into bratz, and barbie stuff. I am going to get her a gift card to Build a bear because she has been begging to go there for months now. Anything pink also. She's a girl...chances are she will like it.

Bratz dolls are NOT something I would buy for a child, no matter what the age.
Take her out on a 'special day', she will remember that more and hopefully grow your relationship.
