Yes, though most breeds are generally not monogamous, dogs that live together for long periods of time develope personal attachments to one another. The absence of one will actually cause stress on the other. My friend had a pomeranian that would howl at the window each time her neighbors dog would pass by. Dogs may not become attracted to each other in lthe same respects that humans do, but even through sense of smell they determine whether another dog would become a suitable mate. If your dog is fixed and your neighbor doesn't mind maybe you can set up some date time for your pet and their friend.

OK people, for the last time. Please stop referring to dogs as humans, they do not fall in love, they do not get divorces and ask for child support and they do not get lovesick. They do get attached to a person or an animal and they do get separation anxiety if they lose that one. Dogs do fall in last though if the hormones are there. Male dogs do not fall in love with a particular female, they fall in love with the fact that she is in heat. Same with females, they fall in love when they are in heat with any male that happens to come their way and is able to satisfy them,

It is possible because my dog was use to playing with one our family members dog, but we had to stop them from playing and for about a week he just hung around the house with no energy. He just kind of walked around really slow, but after awhile he started perking up and now he's back to his normal self.

Not in the human sense. However, they can hold a certain affection for other animals and when they are separated, they get sad.
