I always see men spitting in public. They're not embarrassed of seem to think there's anything wrong with doing this. What are they thinking really?

In the middle ages, spitting was an indication of one's truthfulness. When a person lies, their mouth dries up, so spitting showed that they were telling the truth

I know, gross hey? My son started doing it and I put a stop to it right a way. It is so unattractive. I think it's starts in highschool when those silly teenagers think it's cool to stuff a wad of tobacco in their mouth. Yuck! Spit is gross... brown spit is a bazillion times worse. BLLLAAAAHHHH!

Women in general have less real stuff in them. They try to overcome this shortcoming by giving exaggerated importance to emo stuff and grace and bulls.hit. If a person can kiss another person and can have mouth to mouth contact for extended times, I don’t think spitting in public is a big deal. There are some hygienic bad effects, but these are negligible compared to other secretions from human body.

Spitting, to many a man, is considered an act of machismo. But with as gross as it is, why would they think anyone- especially women- would be impressed? Either that or no one took the time to teach them manners.

Men are made differently, with the adam's apple and all. They need to spit because it's harder just to swallow it. It's also a sign of masculinity, to show off to other boys.
Girls do it too, I've known some who have, but I think it's harder for them to learn because their throats are made differently.

I don't know why they do it, but I find it very rude and disgusting. I do not let my sons spit when they are with me and my husband knows it bugs me so he doesn't do it.
My dad used to do it all the time.

Perhaps they have something in their throat that's absolutely imminent that they get out of their throats immediately. Perhaps a sign of bad dental hygiene.

Theres too much saliva in there mouths. So they need to spit other wise they will choke on there own saliva.
