I suffer from Borderline personality disorder and this is one of my self harming coping behaviours. I am seeing a therapist, but it is a long slow process before I will feel able to give it up. It is very easy to say stop vomiting, but almost impossible to do, and if I don't do it, I do other self-harming behaviours like cutting, instead.
In the meantime I am trying to damage my body as little as possible, so I am would like to ask what I can use to to prevent damage to my teeth and throat after I have purged?
Thank you to those who have already responded with helpful and serious answers.

Obviously the best solution is not to vomit in the first place.
However, I realise it can be hard to stop. Water should work fine, sip some as well as it will wash the acid from your throat too.
Anything more alkali than water will probably cause more damage in the long term.

Why not try starvation instead of bulimia? End result is the same but without the rotten teeth. With starvation you really don't need teeth anyway. Or you could just get dentures, they don't rot. How about trying bushing and flossing. This seems to work for allot of people. I know what you can do, try swallowing a garbage bag but keep the opening hanging out of your mouth. Then eat all the food you can get your hands on and when your done eating just pull the bag out. Presto no pesky vomit on your teeth. How about trying the obvious stop vomiting and just eat healthy.

You could clean your teeth each time you throw up. I
But in the long run perhaps you should consider why you do it. I suffered from the same condition when I was younger. I only stopped when I became pregnant because it wasn't only me I was hurting then. (and I started throwing up naturally) After several years and some counselling I realised that the problem stemmed from me having been a victim of sexual abuse as a child.
All the best.

it wont matter what you eat after the damage has been done the second regurgitated food enters yoiur throat that why it is so ridiculous to be making yourself vomit that acid belongs in the stomach not the mouth. please go get some therapy to be bulimic you must be obsessed with your self image and are vomiting to keep your weight at a certain level anyone that obsessed needs help

Some thyroid disorders can be cured, but many require lifetime treatment. Learn here https://tr.im/i3PXG
For example, sometimes early stage thyroid cancer can be cured by surgery to remove the thyroid gland, but you will need to take thyroid hormone medication afterwards for the rest of your life. Goiters can also be surgically removed and do not always recur after surgery. In most cases, thyroid disorders need treatment over a lifetime. However, with treatment most people with thyroid disorders can live normal, healthy lives.

Instead of asking for help with protecting your teeth from acid erosion, you should be seeking help for the bulimia. This disease will take a toll on your body and will end up killing you in the long run. Please call your local hospital for a referral to a program. You can get better.

No there is nothing and you are also damaging the lining of your esophogas when you do this. You risk permanent damage if you continue doing this. You need to realize that you have a problem and get help before you do permanent damage to yourself or worse yet die.

It's not even funny to post this question. Bullemia is a very serious condition requiring hospitalisation and in some cases causes death.
If this is a genuine question then you need to see a doctor to be referred for psychological help.
If this is not a genuine question then the same still applies.
