My boyfriend and I have been together for about 2 years now. We don't live together and are both single parents (I have one child, he has two). I know that a traditional gift from a man to a woman, one that shows a sign of commitment but not engagement, is jewelry: a necklace, promise ring, expensive earrings...

We're not ready for marriage, mostly because the kids are not ready. But I'd like to give him a Christmas gift that shows my level of commitment. He's not really a jewelry kind of man. Any ideas?

Even guys who aren't into jewelry wear watches. Would he wear it if you gave him a watch? While he would probably love it, I don't think tickets to his favorite sports event would have the same sentiment or show a level of commitment.

A nice hand written poem that shows where you started, things that you've experienced and your hopes and dreams of the future with him. Place into a nice frame and it will mean more to him than if you had spend a million bucks on jewelry. And if he is into sports some game tickets to a favourite team of his. Or if he likes to attend concert tickets then some of these to one of his favourite bands. Not things that will be around for a long time but the memories will be there for a long time and it is something that the pair of you can d together. Happy shopping and Merry Christmas.

Buy him a kid leather wallet (expensive one) the type that has a picture window and put in a photo of yourself and him together happy - or just you looking your best. He will not be able to forget you if he sees your picture everyday.
