I am a bit concerned because I had a large amount of blood in my stool the past two days. What could have caused it?

It is bright red - nothing that I ate. The stool itself is darkish black and also coated with bright red blood.

Is it bright red or is it darker? Bright red usually signifies hemorrhoids and darkness indicates internal bleeding. I would double check with the Doc just to be safe.

Are you sure it's blood? It's good to be concerned, because if it is really blood, it could be serious (intestinal polyps/tumors/ulcers, etc). However, many times I've thought the same thing and it turned out to be something red/redish-brown that I ate. For example. My son ate bell peppers the other day. I started to freak out because there was red stuff in his poop the day after. I didn't remember he'd eaten bell pepper for a minute. Try to remember what you have eaten in the last couple of days. If there is nothing that you can remember like that, then I'd DEFINITELY go see a doctor. God Bless!

Is the blood in the stool or just with the stool. If it is in the stool then get to the doc ASAP as you have a GI bleed somewhere. If it is just with the stool or when you wipe or in the toilet but not actually in the stool you still need to see the doc soon. Call now and make an appointment to be seen.

If there are loose stools containing blood and mucus with griping, it is bacillary dysentry or may be inflammatory bowel disease. If the blood is coming separate from the stool, it could be hemorrhoids or even cancer of the colon. If passing stool is painful and the side of the stool is streaked with blood, there could be an anal fissure. In any case, you need treatment .

if there is a large amount you need to see a doctor asap. especially if it is bright red. that could be internal bleeding. if only a tiny amount it could be something minor like hemorrhoids and tiny blood vessels breaking when straining to have a bowel movement. dark blood is probably old blood your body is just getting rid of. In any case you need to find out the cause and get it taken care of soon.

Bright blood streaking stool and on paper would be hemorrhoids.
Dark blood would require a doctors visit..

You could have a tear in the anus. Which will usually be bright red. It's not that bad. If the blood is dark it's coming from inside your body. It could be an ulcer. You should see a doctor to be sure.

may be due to gastric ulcer the color will bee dark brown or anal fissure the colour will bee fresh red blood which is coused by constipation(hard stools)you have to see doctor gastroenterology or surgeon to see if the rectal surounding is not cracked
stop spicy food and liqure

Not a good sign however it might be a simple thing maybe just a fissure but you need to check it out with a dr,
