Why do people keep running over a string a dozen times with their vacuum cleaner, then reach down, pick it up, examine it, then put it down to give the vacuum one more chance?

hahaha. That is so true. I have been known to do it. I think to myself, it's a tiny sting, why the hell can't this vacuum pick it up?

I would do it because I would like to see if my vacume is working properly. Also the most common reason is that its hard to suction a string into a vacume if the string is kind of stuck on the carpet if you pick it up and put it back down again the vacume cleaner is more then likely to pick it up and its better to vacume it up then throw it in your pocket.

haha good questions. I think the stop and look part is just being amazed that for some reason your vacuum won't pick it up. And then you throw it back down because your still not convinced

Because we want to see if we can suck it up in the vacuum cleaner instead of bending down and picking it up. we are lazy. I do it at work all the time. i have this sweaper and if it doesn't go in after i go over it twice...i pick it up myself.

I don't know who would do that? I personally walk thrue as I go to get the vacuum and pick up the big stuff, then vacuum.

Well...I personally would say down right laziness...there is no other logical reason to vacuum the same darn spot for 30 minutes...lol!

because everyone is too lazy to pick it up in the first place and you always think that last push over with the vaccum might just pick it up.............but no it doesn't and we have to pick it up anyway!
