I have the same problem. I use hot rollers and then the hairspray after I take them out but before putting my fingers throughout the curls to style. A great hairspray is the Sexy Hair (red bottle) spray I got at Ulta or the salons. You'll have to respray later in the day if you are trying to hold the style all day. Good luck!

Instead of using a curling iron (which damages your hair anyway), try putting it in rag curls when it's still a bit damp and then sleeping on them. I like to use a light setting lotion (like Lottabody - available at Sally's and sometimes in the "ethnic" section of drug stores). As long as your hair is completely dry before you take out the rags, it'll hold a really long time, even if you don't use hairspray.
Rag curls are exactly what they sound like - take bits of cloth (like an old t-shirt) and wind your hair around them all the way up to your scalp. Tie the ends together to hold it in place. You can also buy foam curlers that have a little bit of foam with wire sticking out of either end (and the whole thing covered in cloth). You wrap your hair around the foam, and then twist the wires together. Those are pretty comfortable to sleep on as well...

Try using a curling wax or pomade on each section of hair prior to curling it. This should help the curls last longer.

Hair mostly does what you want it do do.But you can tame it easily with a very tight holding hairspray and possibly a change of shampoo and/or conditioner.Mousse just kind of pulls the curls out because of its weight.Good luck!

Probably not. You are one of those unlucky people who's hair is stuck in straight mode. Perming is probably your only option. There are some products on the market that say they encourage curl, but they are expensive and don't work all that well.

What is with girls!!! hahah my fiance has curly hair and she straightens it each day and you have straight hair and you try and curl it hahahahhaha!!!!
But all kidding aside - my fiance is a stylist and she says you should use Curl And Wave Shampoo.

Spray your hair as you curl it while it is still on the iron.

Alot of hairsprays and moouses damage your hair. Try curlers, but with little or no hairspray after they've cooled from the heat, this way, the hairspary won't make your hair so stiff.
