You just answered your own question.. This advice will seem counter-intuitive, but bear with me.

Shampoo strips hair of its natural oils. The more often you shampoo, the more oil your scalp produces to try to make up for their loss.

It'll suck at first, but cut back on the shampoo. Dilute it 50/50 with water, and try to cut back to every other day. Use a light conditioner (doesn't have to be expensive - I use White Rain extra body), but use enough of it to coat all your hair. Be sure to rinse really well.

If you're using any products with silicone in them (anything on the ingredient ending in "-cone"), stop. Silicones coat your hair and can make it look really greasy, while at the same time seriously weakening your hair.

(I just love that out of all the answers here, mine is the one that gets ranked down. Do you think I'm just making this up for fun? No, I've actually tried my own advice and it has worked for me.)

Use clarifying shampoo and always use conditioner, even if you think you don't need it. If your scalp skin is dry, your pores will produce even more oil in effort to naturally remoisturize the scalp. Try washing your hair with conditioner only every other shower, or use a shower cap.

Use baby powder on the scalp when your hair starts getting oily or you need a quick fix between shampoos, then shake/pat out, and blow dry. It will absorb the oil then come right of your hair, taking the oil with it.

Don't use any styling products with oil in them.

Sleep on a cotton pillow, never sleep on a silk one, and wash the case frequently because it absorbs your oil and goes back onto your hair the next night... not to mention will cause breakouts!

Brushing your hair will stimulate blood flow to your scalp, helping to regulate oil production. Try brushing a few hundrew strokes before a shower. And brush throughout the day to distribute the oil to the ends of your hair, where it's needed most.

I have the same problem!! I hate it! People told me not to put conditioner on top of my hair only on the ends -- maybe go to washing every other day and also - get a soft bristle brush a salon told me the natural fibers move the oil down to the tips....also if regular conditioner is making your hair too oily try a 2 in 1....

good luck!!

I think you have an oily scalp, my hair also get greasy too but, after washing it the second time the grease reduces.Greasy scalp can also be caused by your DNA, if you have an oily skin it can also affect your hair, try not to use conditioners that are made of chemical,watch the ones you use, also try to use raw eggs instead of the man made conditioner.

I would recommend that you look for a shampoo and conditioner for people with greasy hair, many brands have variations made for different types of hair. I would also recommend you avoid (or at least change) what kind of gel, moose or hairspray you put in your hair also. You should consider speaking with a hair stylist to see what they recommend.

You seem to have very oily scalp. It's the hormones, can't do much about it. You can switch to a detangler, it's a light conditioner. And take care that the conditioner doesn't get to the scalp, that will make it even oilier.

I also have this problem, I wash my hair everyday and my hair gets greasy so quickly. If u leave it abit, on a weekend so you dont have to leave the house, you will notice it will feel so much better.

You can try to wash ur hair less often.Gradually, ur scalp will produce less oil.Either that or try shampoo for oily hair.ur current shampoo might not be suitable for u.You may want to try others.

it all depends onto the greasy stuff that you eat and it converts it into like sweat, so parts of the sweat goes onto any hair area { that's why we often take a bath}
