my nephew, whom i have to care for for a while, has no friends that i am aware of. he talks to no one...other than who he must, to get by. he goes nowhere. everyday he comes home from work, and goes up to his room. he does nothing (other than a part time job). he has no hobbies. he has no goals. he doesn't have any interests and has NEVER even been on a date. he is 21, almost 22.

is this cause for concern or is it something that will pass??? or is it perhaps kinda normal??? if it is cause for concern, how much???

Does he have depression signs other then what you just posted? Ask him if all is well and encourage him to go out with ya for a bite to eat, movie, bowling etc. Just reach out to him in case he needs a shoulder, ya know. You R a great friend as well as uncle.

Well I don't think this is normal. Do you encourage him to go out and meet people?? If not then I would definitely start doing so. If you can't motivate him to meet people then I would take him out to places. Show him their's more to life then working and chilling in his room.

He sounds depressed, and hes avoiding interaction with other people. Let him know you are aware of this, that if he needs someone to talk to you are there.

No it sounds like clinical depression. Ask a professional schedule a visit for him.
He may need your help to get started.

Have you tried talking to him? Try. And try again if he doesn't open up.
