I'm interested to hear anyone's opinion on this. I've been on birth control for a little over a year now. Is it possible to ovulate the very first month after i have stopped taking the pill?

Sure is.

Its even possible to ovulate when on the pill. Every woman who takes the pill for a year, one in onehundred become pregnant while on it.

Theres no sure way of knowing when you will ovulate again, each woman is different. Some need a few months, or even a year or better, while others simply need to miss a couple pills in oder to ovulate and concieve.
