Can you tell the difference between a really shy guy from a guy with low self-esteem?

Shy guy:

Can blush when attention comes his way.

Almost always quiet and respectful as he doesn't want to draw attention to himself.

Generally well mannered and well kept.

Tends to sit "closed", arms in slightly hunched over.

Low Self-Esteem:

Usually be loud and obnoxious.

Dresses poorly as why bother.

Generally angry.

Takes offense at the weirdest things but other things that should make him mad doesn't phase him.

Well I'm not sure if there is a difference, but with women, usually really shy and low/no self-esteem are the same thing.

It would be hard to make a clear judgment without coming to know this person but let me tell you the signs are a lot alike but a man with low self esteem is usually jealous, abusive, and a danger to your health.

Shy guys take care of themselves and dress nicely and keep their hair combed. They're just quiet. Low self-esteem guys dress in black and have greasy hair and slump when they sit. They're quiet, but in a more hostile way.

Yeah a guy that puts himself down 24/7 no one wants that when a shy guy does not do that but just is shy about himself

NO, absolutely not... Talk to him, joke around, say hi in the halls, get to know him.... Do not say, "hey, 'just wanted to let you know that i really like you"; he will run, even if he does like you. It makes a situation REALLY AWKWARD. He will respect you if you just get to know him first. The time for disclosure of feelings is after about 6 months of serious dating... PS: When I was in 9th grade, I disclosed my feelings frankly, and it totally ruined it; TOTALLY.
